Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) novel Chapter 3299

The frail woman's expression instantly shifted as she turned to Matthew and urged with fear. "Sir, you should leave quickly. Those people won't just let this go."

"They'll be back soon. There's a lot of them, and they're ruthless. You'd better go now," she insisted, glancing at Matthew's clothes, which clearly marked him as an outsider. When Matthew showed no signs of leaving, she urged him again.

"Ma'am, don't worry. Those people won't be coming back," Matthew reassured her with a gentle smile, shaking his head.

As long as the Watson Family had any sense left, they wouldn't dare mess with him again.

"You—sigh," the frail woman let out a weary sigh, her tone bitter. "Those people are with the Watson family. They're ruthless." She paused for a moment, then asked, "Where are you from?"

She stopped talking about the Watson Family and instead fetched some water from the well. She filled a clean porcelain bowl and handed it to Matthew with a small smile. "Sir, have some water. We don't have fancy cups, so I hope you don't mind."

Matthew took the bowl without hesitation and drank it all in one go, grinning afterward.

"This well water is sweet. None of that bottled water nonsense compares."

His lack of pretense brought a genuine smile to the woman's face.

"Cole, why don't you show this kind mister to a seat while I cook? We'll have dinner together tonight," she said as she turned to head toward the small kitchen on the right.

"Why won't you let Cole train with me then?" Matthew frowned slightly as he looked at the frail woman. He knew that no parent would deny their child the chance for a brighter future. Even though she might not be highly educated, this woman clearly understood the weight of his decision.

"It's not that I don't want to," she replied with a pained expression, pulling Cole close to her. "But we simply can't afford the cost of training him in martial arts."

She held Cole closer, her heart aching.

What parent didn't dream of a brighter future for their child? But with her frail body, she couldn't do much heavy work. She scraped by, earning what little she could through handmade crafts to cover their living expenses. The money she made was just enough for them to survive. No matter how much she longed for a better future for Cole, she couldn't afford to entertain the thought.

Seeing the dejected look on Cole's face, the pain in her heart grew. Cole, it's my fault as your mother. I wasn't able to give you a better life.
