Along the cliff's edge on the Sacred Mount, Ivy sat in a long green dress with crossed knees, gently closing her eyes.
Before her was a vast cliff, with distant mountains continuing endlessly.
In contrast, Ivy's figure seemed somewhat solitary. There was only a cactus around her.
"Matthew, since you've come, why are you turning back?"
In the forest, Matthew's expression stiffened. After hesitating for a moment, he stepped forward.
"Matthew, do you have something to discuss with me?"
After rising to her feet, Ivy tilted her head. Her face beamed with two dimples as she looked at Matthew.
It seemed she only showed happiness with Matthew present.
Matthew was momentarily at a loss for words as he gazed at her familiar yet strange face.
They looked at each other silently. It was as if each had something to say but couldn't find the words.
"I'll leave the mountain for a period of time."
"Will it take you long?"
"Perhaps a few days. Recently, members of the Commercial Union and many wealthy businessmen from Cathay have invited me to preside over a meeting."
"You don't have to go."
Ivy looked straight at Matthew with a complex expression.
Matthew sighed and shrugged helplessly. "I know their purpose in inviting me. Sometimes, it's a must for me to intervene in certain matters. Seraphis may be in chaos, but it mustn't collapse."
Ivy suddenly burst into laughter. "Matthew, just tell me what's on your mind. After all, you saved my life in the hotel at Lawson Street before."
As she spoke of this, her smile dimmed slightly.
At that time, she was still young. Although she was severely injured, she could still coquettishly nestle in Matthew's arms.
"Are you using me to establish your authority?" Lucius, who had been observing from a distance, pouted as he turned around and disappeared from the scene.
Meanwhile, Ivy averted her gaze from Lucius and looked at Matthew.
"Thank you. I'll come back promptly."
Matthew's biggest concern was Lucius, as he was always up to mischief.
If he started talking nonsense with Sasha, Matthew would face trouble. He was afraid that Sasha might overthink.
Ivy replied with a sweet smile, "I take your matters as mine. Don't be polite."
"I know. It's getting late. Go back and rest."
There were many things on Matthew's mind, but he didn't know how to start, just like how he did in the past.
He still vaguely remembered the silent figure.
