After leaving the laboratory, Matthew first headed to Gianna's mansion. It had been a while since he last met her. She was clearly over with her emotional slump by now.
"Matthew, what brings you here?" she happily hopped onto his back.
"I just wanted to see you. How have you been? Is the place to your liking?"
Brittany nodded happily. "Yes, Gianna treats me well. It's just that she never lets me go out. There's always a group of people watching over me. It's annoying."
Apparently, Gianna was trying to protect Brittany, but he didn't utter a word about it.
Nothing mattered more than Brittany's happiness. She should be surrounded by happiness at such a young age. The grudges formed by the previous generation should be left to them to resolve.
"Oh, give me a sec, Matthew. I'll go get Gianna from the garden." Brittany Newman jumped off his back, but he stopped her.
"It's fine. I came to see you today. I'll be leaving soon."
Brittany was disappointed. "So soon? I wanted to treat you to a big meal, though."
"Maybe next time. I'm glad to see that you're comfortable living here. I have other things to attend to. I'll visit next time." With that, he caressed Brittany's head.
Today, his purpose for stopping by was to see Brittany. A wave of relief washed over him when he knew that she was happy. That way, he was able to live up to Billy's trust.
Just as Matthew was about to turn around, Brittany blurted, "Matthew, if you see my father, please tell him that I miss him."
It was the chance for one to prove what their countries were capable of.
A million armies had already gathered in Bainbridge ever since the competition's preparation. As of today, they guarded the borders of the city without putting their guard down.
Similarly, they also spared no effort for the Martial League; they patrolled the whole city to eliminate all potential threats. The Martial League's inspection teams could be seen everywhere on the streets.
After leaving Gianna's mansion, Matthew went back to S&L's Breakfast. Due to his hasty pace, he failed to spot a sauntering Zubrowkan martial arts practitioner ahead while turning a corner.
They ran into each other. Matthew tiptoed and tilted his body, barely avoiding the sudden incoming people.
"Sorry!" He didn't stay any longer and just walked away.
