Fade stepped forward and was ready to register.
However, the guard reached out his right hand and stopped him.
"Er—" Fade was puzzled.
The guard rubbed his thumb, index finger, and middle finger in front of Fade, and said with a smile, "Do you understand what this means?"
Seeing this, Fade immediately understood that the guard wanted some benefit.
"10 Fire Crystals!" The guard said.
Seeing that Fade didn't say anything, the guard said.
"Hurry up. Pay the money and you can go in. This is the entry fee," the guard said.
Fade’s frown deepened and he said unhappily, "I've never heard that the entry fee for the entrance examination of Southern Mount Academy is to be charged."
Fade was not short of money, but he didn't like this kind of thing.
"You haven't heard of it?" The guard shook his face and picked up the big stick again. He glared at Fade and said, "Now that I've said it, you should have heard it."
"Either pay, or f*ck off!" The guard said arrogantly.
Fade was even more displeased. He said coldly, "If I were to respond to the higher-ups of the Southern Mount Academy, you..."
"Are you trying to file a complaint? Haha, then go ahead. I'm not afraid to tell you that my cousin is Camden Mo, a genius from the Southern Mount Academy. Are you sure you want to file a complaint?" The guard was fearless.
Hearing this, Fade was even more dissatisfied. He said sternly, "I don’t care who your cousin is. It's against the rules. I won't give you the money."
"I will definitely report this to the Academy," Fade added.
The guard didn't expect Fade to be so stubborn. Not only did he refuse to pay, but he also insisted on complaining.
Suddenly, he became angry. He picked up the wooden stick, roared, and threw it at Fade.
"You ungrateful guy, I think you are looking for death," the guard said angrily.
Upon seeing this, Fade narrowed his eyes slightly. He couldn't help but feel a surge of anger in his heart. He raised his right hand gently and his positive energy condensed as he prepared to attack.
However, just as the wooden stick was about to hit Fade's head...
A stern shout came from the Academy.
"Stop!"
Then, Fade saw a group of about seven or eight young men and women in blue robes walking towards him.
The one who stopped the fight was the leader of the group. He was a handsome man.
"What's going on?" The man came to the door and asked.
"Greetings, Mr. Yao." The guard quickly cupped his hands and bowed. Then, he glanced at Fade and said, "Mr. Yao, this guy is causing trouble at the door. I was about to drive him away, so..."
"Causing trouble?" Mr. Yao's gaze turned and landed on Fade. His expression was one of inquiry.
Fade snorted and said loudly, "I came to Southern Mount Academy to participate in the examination, but this man asked me for
10 Fire Crystals as an entry fee."
"He even threatened me that his cousin was Mr. Mo. If I didn't give him the money, he would make me suffer," Fade said.
Hearing this, Mr. Yao's face instantly darkened. He glared at the guard and said coldly, "Is that true?"
The guard panicked and hurriedly denied, "Mr. Yao, there is no such thing. This guy is talking nonsense. He deliberately slandered me."
Fade did not give in and asked in a cold voice, "According to the rules of the Southern Mount Academy, I just come here to take the exam. I have not violated any of the rules. Why should I be driven away?"
"Huh?" Mr. Mo was stunned and looked at Fade in surprise.
Obviously, he did not expect that Fade would dare to talk back to him, in front of the Academy.
In an instant, his expression darkened, and even Fade felt a faint killing intent. "Are you talking to me?"
Fade felt the aura, but he still did not retreat. He said firmly, "Yes."
"You —" Camden narrowed his eyes and his aura began to grow.
Seeing this, Mr. Yao stood up and said, "Camden, I have confirmed that this person is indeed here to take the test. According to the rules, we should give him a chance."
"Rucian, do you know him?" Camden asked.
Mr. Yao said, "I don't know him. However, as a member of the Academy, it is my duty to abide by the Academy's rules."
"Is that so?" Camden looked at Rucian's firm eyes. He paused for a moment before finally nodding. "That makes sense. Let's give him a try!"
As soon as he said that, the guard stopped.
Mr. Yao gave Fade an encouraging look and said, "Show us your strength, try your best to burst out and smash this testing slate."
"If there are four cracks on it, it proves that your strength has reached stage 4 of the Star Fire Realm and has reached the admission standard of our Academy. Do you understand?" Mr. Yao said.
Fade nodded and said he understood. Then, he looked at the testing slate embedded on a wall on one side of the entrance. He condensed his aura and gathered it on his right hand. With a bang, he punched the stone slab.
"Boom!"
As his positive energy surged, Fade felt that the martial art power he had cultivated in the past few days had passed through his limbs, bones, and meridians. In the last moment, all of it gathered on his right fist, and with a loud bang, he smashed it out.
