"Can't you answer my question?" Fade snorted as the anger on his face grew.
Fade looked like a volcano that was about to erupt.
Right then, the sound of horse hooves galloping in their direction was heard. Pearce, dressed in dazzling armor, arrived riding on a tall crimson horse.
"Greetings, Oracle!"
Hearing that, Fade turned around and stared at Pearce. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke up.
"I need an explanation."
Pearce glanced at the burning fire and indifferently reported, "Oracle, I discovered the spies of the mountain bandits within this group, so I executed them."
"Spies! They are nothing more than ordinary villagers caught by mountain bandits," Fade said through his gritted teeth.
Pearce withdrew pieces of small accessories and showed them to Fade. He explained, "The Oracle may not know that these spies are very cunning. In the front of outsiders, they've always claimed themselves to be ordinary villagers.”
"In fact, they are spies controlled by bandits in order to sneak into the city to get their hands on valuable information or destroy it."
"It's not the first time we've suffered such a loss."
"These accessories are symbols of their secret identities."
Pearce's words rendered Fade speechless.
Indeed. From an outsider's point of view, what Pearce said made sense. Although his behavior was harsh, it was for the sake of the safety of the whole of Main Southern City.
Fade, however, knew that Pearce's so-called explanation was simply nonsense.
That was because when Fade had rescued them, he had manipulated his vital soul to investigate the minds of all the mountain bandits and villagers.
Judging from the soul energy of both parties, they were nothing more than the ordinary.
It was the confirmation that allowed Fade to give them pills to nourish their bodies and to send them to the city for recuperation.
As a result, he was intercepted by Pearce along the way, who claimed all the villagers to be spies.
In such a situation, Fade could do nothing to explain.
After all, he couldn't explain how his divine soul worked to ordinary citizens, and they would probably not believe it either.
Since the villagers were dead, no one could refute Pearce's words.
At the moment, Pearce seemed to be invincible.
A trace of anger flashed in Fade's eyes, which vaguely tinted with a hint of killing intent.
With his capability, he could kill Pearce on the spot.
Fade, however, decided to suppress the anger in his heart.
He knew that although he had the ability to kill Pearce, the chaos caused by killing him right then would not improve the situation, and might even lead to more casualties. That was not what Fade hoped for.
At the thought of that, Fade narrowed his eyes and looked at Pearce, saying, "I see. I get it."
With that, Fade directly led the team back to the city.
Wearing a serious face, Pearce took the initiative to cup his hands for a respectful salute. "Farewell, Oracle."
It was not until Fade's team had entered the city that Pearce could no longer restrain himself. The corners of his mouth raised to show a proud smile.
Next to him, his vice general leaned over and pointed out, "Mr. Yang, it seems that the oracle is so-so! In front of you, Mr. Yang, he doesn't have much courage."
How they behaved was unrestrained and carefree. The guards were envious.
In contrast, Fade, the oracle, was considered to be a lot more pitiful. He had not done anything that revealed his authorities. At the last moment, he had asked for a beauty, and that was more like it.
It did not last long since he returned to his original state after being suppressed by Pearce during the trip to the southern province.
At that moment, both of them were annoyed.
How could they be so unlucky as to serve such a weak oracle?
If they were assigned to Corey, Yanko, or Kian's side by Lukas, their lives would be much more comfortable than they were right then. They could finish their tasks in a shorter period, and after they returned, they could still be rewarded by Lukas as well.
Right then, as they were with Fade, their future was bleak.
The thing was, everything had already come up to that point, so the two of them were left with no choice but to release a sigh and to return for a rest.
For the next few days, Fade continued conducting the Plan Fire Glow.
As the location of the mission grew increasingly further, more obstacles appeared in Fade's way.
In the beginning, the obstacles merely consisted of ordinary mountain bandits. Later, they ran into the patrol team of the Southern Forest. There was once where they stumbled upon a demonic beast that had left its territory.
The strength of those enemies was increasingly powerful.
From Zakir, who had been at the third stage of Physical Refine Realm, to the demonic beast, which was comparable to that of a seventh stage Physical Refine Realm martial arts practitioner.
Fade himself was injured for the first time and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Although it was a minor injury, it implied that the task seemed to be getting increasingly difficult.
