Chapter 277
Elyra’s struggles against Jason were futile, his monstrous strength rendering her resistance powerless. He dragged her into a crumbling ruin deep in the forest, its stone walls blanketed in moss and shadows. The air was thick with an oppressive energy, the ruins seemingly alive with echoes of despair. Jason shoved her against the cold stone, his red eyes glowing with a disturbing mix of desperation and triumph.
“You don’t understand,” Jason said, his voice trembling as he loomed over her. “I’m the only one who sees you for what you really are. The only one who loves you for it.”
“That’s not love,” Elyra spat, twisting in his grip. Her silver hair spilled over her shoulders like liquid light, shimmering even in the gloom. “It’s obsession, and it’s disgusting.”
Jason’s face contorted, torn between pain and fury. “You say that now,” he growled, tightening his hold on her wrist. “But when you see what I can offer you—what I’ve become—you’ll understand. I can protect you, Elyra. I can make you safe.”
“I don’t need you to protect me!” she snapped, struggling harder.
Jason’s resolve cracked, his features twisting with rage. “You’ll see,” he hissed, stepping closer. “I can give you everything you need—everything he can’t.”
Elyra squared her shoulders, the hum of her power creating a protective aura around her. “You’ll never control me, Jason. Never.”
Jason’s hollow laugh echoed through the ruins. “We’ll see about that,” he said, his figure retreating into the shadows. The faint glow of his red eyes lingered for a moment before they disappeared entirely.
Elyra sank to her knees, her body shaking as adrenaline drained away.
