Luna Aurora novel (Alpha Fenrir) novel Chapter 10

Chapter 346

The battle erupted with feral howls and clashing steel. Shadow wolves darted between the trees like living nightmares, their glowing red eyes locking onto their prey. Elyra stood at the center of her formation, the shard clutched in her hand. Its faint light barely kept the darkness at bay.

“Hold your ground!” Cassian roared, his blade flashing as he cut down an advancing wolf.

The warriors fought valiantly, their silver-tipped weapons slicing through the shadowy creatures, but for every wolf they felled, another seemed to take its place. The pack’s movements were unnervingly coordinated, their strikes precise and calculated.

Elyra’s pulse thundered in her ears. She tried to focus, to summon the light magic Selene had taught her, but the oppressive weight of the shadow threatened to smother her concentration.

“Elyra!” Selene’s voice cut through the chaos. The older Luna stood nearby, her hands aglow with silver light as she hurled beams of energy at the shadow wolves. “You must lead them! They need your strength!”

Elyra nodded, her resolve hardening. She raised the shard, letting its faint glow spread across the battlefield. “Push forward! Don’t let them surround us!”

The warriors rallied, their movements more coordinated as they fought back against the encroaching wolves. But Elyra’s relief was short-lived.

From the shadows, Dain stepped into view, his presence commanding and terrifying. He moved with an eerie grace, the shadows swirling around him like a living cloak. His golden eyes, now tinged with black, locked onto Elyra.

“You can’t win this fight, sister,” he said, his voice calm but laced with menace. “Surrender, and I’ll show you mercy.”

Elyra’s heart clenched at his words. This wasn’t the brother she had grown up with, the one who had sworn to protect her. This was someone else—a man consumed by the very darkness he once feared.

“I don’t need your mercy,” she said, her voice steady despite the turmoil within her. “I need you to remember who you are.”

Dain’s expression darkened, his lips curling into a cruel smile. “Who I am? I’ve never been clearer about that. The shadow has shown me the truth. You’re the one who refuses to see.”

He raised his hand, and the shadow wolves surged forward with renewed ferocity. Elyra gritted her teeth, the shard in her hand pulsing as she channeled her magic.

A beam of light shot from her hand, striking the nearest wolf and sending it sprawling. The light seared through the shadow, its darkness dissolving into nothingness.

The wolves hesitated, their movements faltering as if sensing the shift in power. But Dain stepped forward, his hand glowing with shadowy energy.

When the dust settled, a heavy silence hung over the battlefield. The land was scorched, the trees twisted and blackened by the clash of light and shadow. Warriors on both sides lay injured, groaning in pain as they tried to recover.

Elyra struggled to sit up, her body aching from the impact. The shard lay a few feet away, its light dim and flickering weakly. She reached for it, but a shadow loomed over her.

Dain stood above her, his expression unreadable. His golden-black eyes scanned the battlefield, taking in the destruction.

“You’re a fool,” he said softly, his voice devoid of its earlier malice. “You can’t save them. You can’t save me.”

Elyra met his gaze, her breath shallow. “I’ll never stop trying.”

For a moment, something flickered in his eyes—an emotion she couldn’t place. But then it was gone, replaced by the cold detachment of the shadow.

He turned away, his figure dissolving into the darkness. The shadow wolves followed, their forms retreating into the trees until only silence remained.

-: Elyra clutched the shard, its faint glow barely illuminating her trembling hands. As the light flickered, she realized that the line between her power and the shadow’s corruption was thinner than ever—and she was running out of time.
