Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 1019

I heard the rocking chair creak. When I looked over, I saw Lisa getting up from it and walking outside.

"Hey, where are you going?" I asked her.

She didn't respond, and my voice startled Merry, who started crying.

I quickly picked her up. Just then, the nanny rushed in, hearing the noise, and immediately reached out to take her. I didn't hand her over, though. Instead, I gently rocked her.

I should have been the one holding my baby. After all, to Merry, my embrace was the warmest. It was my privilege, and I wouldn't let anyone take it from me.

As I rocked her, I glanced outside and saw Lisa walking over to Brandon, who was still decorating for Valentine's Day. "Maddie's calling you," she said.

Brandon looked up at her, and I shook my head, though he couldn't see me. He immediately put down what he was holding and hurried over to me. Meanwhile, Lisa picked up where he left off, continuing to arrange the decorations.

"Lisa, you're here too?" Joelle saw her and happily came over to greet her.

"Aunt Joelle, what a coincidence." She pretended as if she had just noticed them.

"Logan and I came here to hang out. I didn't expect to see you here," Joelle said cheerfully.

Lisa's expression remained neutral. "This place is like a second home to me. I'm here often. I was just inside taking a nap."

Joelle must have heard from Logan about Lisa's close relationship with me. She nodded. "This place is wonderful. I love it. If Logan is busy next time, I'll come by myself, and we can have tea together if we run into each other."

Honestly, she thought it might've been better if she had fallen down with the ladder.

Just as Lisa was fuming, Logan came over, his arms reaching out to grip her waist firmly. "Let go," he said.

Her arms were already aching. He had arrived just in the nick of time—three more seconds, and she would have plummeted to the ground.

She released her grip, and he caught her. As she slid down, her face brushed past the side of his neck, and she clearly saw a faint pink mark there.

There was no need to ask—it was obviously Joelle's doing. Disgusted, Lisa immediately shoved him away and stormed into the house, fuming with irritation.
