Chapter 144
Madelyn didn’t try to explain herself and merely said, “I’ve hired a caregiver for you. She will buy you dinner.”
“You should go. There’s nothing you need to worry about,” Stella insisted.
Andrew called earlier to check up on Madelyn since she hadn’t been back in a while.
Madelyn didn’t say anything more and hurried back to the company.
She was still tense before entering the office, but the smell of food and medicine greeted her when she opened the door.
When Andrew saw her, he didn’t seem as cold as he was on the phone.
Nonetheless, Madelyn didn’t dare to be careless.
She cautiously called out, “Darling!”
“Aren’t you hungry?”
Andrew softened his approach when he saw her standing still at the door, showing no signs of entering. It was evident that he knew about what she was doing at the hospital
earlier.
Even though it was obvious that he was still in

their relationship, he did really trust her.
Nonetheless, as long as it involved Easton, he couldn’t help but get emotional.
Madelyn nodded.
“I am. I’m super hungry.”
She had been so busy she had even forgotten to eat. She wondered how that could even happen.
As she sat, Andrew said, “Drink the medicine first. Dr. Kent has changed the prescription again.”
As he spoke, he handed her a bowl of the medicine. Its dark color and pungent smell were so off–putting that she
couldn’t drink it.
However, when she thought about everything she had done that day that made him angry and how she really wanted to get better, she accepted it without protest and drank the whole bowl.
“Open your mouth.”
When she placed the bowl down, Andrew popped a piece of candy into her mouth.
Madelyn felt helpless.
She couldn’t understand why the medicine tasted so much more foul than the last prescription. Even the candy couldn’t mask the disgusting taste.

“Was it bad?”
Seeing her furrowing her brows and unable to speak, Andrew affectionately held her in his arms and sat.
“It’s disgusting!”
Andrew stared at her with a complicated look, obviously puzzled by her answer.
Madelyn swallowed nervously under his gaze and said, “I mean, you can just ask me if you want to know anything. There’s no need to have Rowan find out.”
“If I ask, will you tell me?”
She gave a nod.
“Of course.”
Andrew’s expression softened a lot more.
Before he could say anything, Madelyn quickly grabbed his hand.
“Let’s eat. I’m famished.”
She hadn’t had breakfast, and after being bothered by Easton, she was practically starving.
While eating, she could still taste the medicine in her mouth.
She suddenly said, “You should find us a good doctor who can prescribe us some medicine to better our health.”
Andrew was in the middle of handing her food when she said that, causing him to pause his movements.
Madelyn then added, “I need to take medicine regardless, so let’s–just take it together.”
If she had to suffer, she might as well make him suffer with her.
