Chapter 111
Andrew was busy for the next few days.
A home doctor, Derrick Kent, came to check on Madelyn as instructed by Andrew. He was said to be highly proficient in neurology and prescribed tons of supplements.
Looking at the piles of medication on the coffee table, Madelyn felt a headache coming in.
David commanded, “Get the medicine ready for Mrs. Miller.”
“Got it.” A maid respectfully stepped forward and took one of the medicine packages.
Soon, the kitchen was filled with the medicine’s strong bitter aroma, almost making Madelyn faint from
the smell.
When Andrew came home at noon, he noticed Madelyn staring at the pills with a troubled look on her face. Softness flashed through his eyes as he approached.
“Dr. Kent is a prestigious doctor in his specialty. You won’t have to take this medicine for long,” he gently pointed out.
Madelyn turned her gaze to him with her eyes brimming with grievance. “Do I really have to take these pills today?”
She had taken one of them earlier to find that it was awfully bitter.
Andrew took off his suit jacket and handed it to David as he commanded, “Bring me some candy.”
“Got it.” David respectfully nodded.
The younger maids were filled with envy seeing how Andrew pampered Madelyn.
Madelyn whiningly turned her head away and refused to open her mouth. Andrew lifted her onto his lap, making her blush with all the others around.
She muttered, feeling overwhelmed by his unabashed actions, “There are people around us. Plus, I’m not
a kid.”
Madelyn was always reminded of their younger days whenever Andrew held her like that. He would always hug her whenever he came home from school or hold her while he was doing his schoolwork.
Madelyn’s hands clenched.
Instead of what she expected, Andrew spat the pill out, scowling.
A hint of gloat flashed in Madelyn’s eyes. “It’s bitter, isnt it?”
Andrew remained expressionless and wasn’t affected by the remark. He frowned at David waiting at the corner and said, “Tell Dr. Kent to change the prescription.”
What kind of medicine was that? The medicine was supposed to save lives, not end them!
David nodded. “I’ll give him a call.”
When Andrew met Madelyn’s eyes again, Madelyn turned away and grumbled, “You can’t even handle it, yet you’re still trying to get me to swallow it. Hmph!”
“Just this once. Once Dr. Kent changes the prescription, you must take the medicine, understood?” Andrew’s tone was full of affection.
