Loved You Once But He's My Forever (Chloe) novel Chapter 501

That was absurd.

Even though my mind felt clouded, as if wrapped in a thick veil, I still had a strong impression of Luke. We had grown up together, and he had even saved my life. There was no way he would betray me.

"Why would I need a psychiatrist?" I questioned.

Sergio's gaze was soft as he replied, "Chloe, a lot has happened. Let me explain everything to you."

I sat on the swing, quietly listening as he recounted the past decade.

My love story with Luke came to an abrupt end the moment my fake sister, Wisteria, appeared. The pain she caused left me in despair, leading me into a deep depression. It was during that time that I met Sergio, who helped me through years of therapy.

Luke abandoned me at the wedding scene, and that very night, I died. But fate had other plans—I was given another chance at life and crossed paths with Sergio once again. We fell in love, started a family, and had children together.

However, due to the threat posed by a dangerous organization, he brought me to this island to ensure a safe pregnancy.

"So, I can't leave for now?" I asked.

"Chloe, things have been chaotic lately. Someone anonymously sent you a severed head and even drugged you. The outside world is too dangerous. Keeping you here is the only way to protect both you and the children."

As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and showed me a photo of the head.

I quickly averted my gaze. I couldn't recall all the details, but something about it felt oddly familiar.

"For the children's sake, just stay here and recover for now."

He gently stroked my cheek, his eyes filled with deep affection. "Chloe, I can't go through losing you again."

I hesitated, then nodded. "Alright, I'll stay. But I want a phone."

He sighed. "Chloe, I'm worried that revealing your location could put you in danger. That's why the entire island has a signal-blocking system. For now, you won't be able to contact the outside world. Please understand."

Something about his words didn't sit right with me, but I couldn't find any reason to doubt him.

For example, when he mentioned Wisteria, a sense of familiarity washed over me, accompanied by an instinctive feeling of disgust.

When he spoke of Luke abandoning me on our wedding day and the night of my supposed death, fragmented images flickered through my mind—snow falling, a wedding dress stained with blood, fireworks illuminating the sky.

Yet, something was missing. A hollow feeling in my heart told me I had forgotten something important.

"Sergio, are you keeping anything else from me?"

His eyes darkened as he studied me, emotions swirling beneath the surface. "What do you mean? So much has happened over the past ten years. Even if I talked for three days straight, I wouldn't be able to cover everything."

I shook my head. "I don't know. I just feel like there's someone I should remember, but I can't."

He reached out as if to embrace me, but my body instinctively backed away. "Sorry, I don't even remember you."

"That's alright." He awkwardly withdrew his hand. "From now on, I'll be the most important person in your life."

A cool breeze swept past us, and he suggested, "Let's head inside. If you want to know anything, just ask me."

I followed behind him, watching his back.

Something felt off. I couldn't shake the feeling that my husband's shoulders should be broader than his. Was my memory playing tricks on me? Why would I even think that?

"How did I lose my memory?"

He stopped walking and turned to face me. "Someone envied our love and drugged you, erasing your memories of us."

His eyes were full of sincerity, as if terrified of losing me again. "Chloe, I finally found you, and I won't let you go this time."

Once inside, I noticed the studio walls covered in paintings, all signed with the letter S.

"These are the artworks you created during the three years we spent together. Do they look familiar?"

I gazed at the wall covered in paintings, nodding as I took them in. Each piece felt strangely familiar, as if I could sense the sorrow I had experienced back then.

"Don't worry," he said. "I've already arranged everything. The equipment is ready, and a doctor will always be on standby to monitor your health and help with the delivery."

He gently touched my head. "It's late. You should rest. Right now, your only focus should be taking care of yourself and the babies. Leave everything else to me."

"Alright."

"Also, remember to sleep on your side, not flat on your back. Now that the babies are bigger, lying on your back could cut off their oxygen supply."

"I got it," I said, pulling the blanket over me. But before closing my eyes, I looked at him hesitantly. "What about you?"

A slight nervousness crept over me as I worried he might try to sleep beside me.

I barely remembered anything, and to me, he was practically a stranger. The thought of sharing a bed with him made me uneasy.

Sensing my hesitation, he offered reassurance. "Don't worry. I'll sleep on the floor. Take your time—I won't rush you."

"I can manage on my own. This house is big enough. Why don't you take the room next door?"

"Chloe, you need to understand—it's risky for a pregnant woman to be alone, especially in the later months. If you fall, you might not be able to get up on your own. You need someone close by. We're husband and wife—can't you trust me?"

I sighed, giving in. "Alright, I guess I'll just have to trouble you."

As I settled into bed, he gently pulled the blanket over me, his hand briefly resting on my forehead. "In a few months, you'll finally meet the babies. Don't worry about anything—I'll handle it all. Just rest."

"Okay," I whispered, letting my eyes close.

Sleep found me quickly, and in my dream, I saw a man in a white shirt. His face was blurry, but his sorrowful eyes stood out.

He was calling my name.

"Chloe ... where are you?"
