Irvin entered and found me staring blankly at my phone. Since he was familiar with my recent concerns, he immediately understood what I was worried about.
And when he noticed my phone screen showed I had just gotten off a call with William, something occurred to him.
"Don't worry. Nothing extremely bad has happened. It's something crucial that will determine whether William or the Bakers come out on top this time," Irvin reassured.
Over the past six months, the Hardwells had grown more prosperous and successful with each passing day under his leadership. Plus, his partnership with William had also grown increasingly close. So, Irvin knew far more about William's business matters than I did.
Before I could say anything, he continued, "I'm sure William just told you that Noah is still alive and well. Trust me. Not only is Noah fine, but William will be too. The Ashfords will definitely bring down the Bakers once and for all!"
Whenever Irvin claimed something would succeed, it always did. So, this time, I instinctively trusted his words. My fear and anxiety also eased a little because of what he said.
Putting away my phone, I used the table to help myself up. I planned to take a walk in the garden.
My doctor recommended I walk as much as possible since my due date was nearing, as it would help with labor. So every day, I made it a point to walk in the garden for at least 30 minutes.
But as I stood up, I felt an odd sensation in my belly. And before I could say anything, a warm gush of fluid ran down between my legs.
Having learned a lot about pregnancy and childbirth, I immediately knew my water had just broken. I was going into labor!
Irvin noticed something was amiss right away and rushed to my side to support me. Then, he shouted urgently for someone to get the doctor.
