Love That Wasn't Meant to Last novel Chapter 80

Looking at those clothes, I turned around to face Selena. She didn't notice my gaze and kept her head down, looking at her phone.

"It's late. Get some rest." I closed the wardrobe and headed toward the door.

Selena seemed a bit surprised. Seeing me leaving into another room, she called out, "Hudson, are you not going to sleep with me?"

"Men and women should have some boundaries," I replied without explaining more. Then I opened the door and stepped out. I stood at the doorway for a few minutes, and Selena didn't follow.

At that moment, I couldn't tell whether I felt relieved or sad.

I found a guest room to sleep in.

I had lived in this house for three or four years, and I had been away for almost a month. Looking up at the ceiling and that old chandelier, I felt a wave of mixed emotions that I couldn't quite describe.

And I wasn't sure how much longer I would be staying here.

I couldn't sleep, so I played music on my phone for almost half an hour before I started feeling drowsy. Just as I was about to drift off, I heard the door creak open.

Selena stood at the entrance with her phone and flashlight on, looking at me with a timid expression.

"I... I'm afraid of the dark when I'm alone. Hudson, could you stay with me?"

I was already sleepy when I saw her, and my vision was a bit blurry. I rubbed my eyes and asked, "But why weren't you afraid of the dark when you were in the hospital?"

When we were at the hospital, I never heard Selena mention being afraid of the dark. Before I arrived, she always spent the nights there alone.

Chapter 80 2

When she saw me pull up outside her building, Sylvia looked surprised.

"Hudson, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be at work today?"

"I'm just here to see you off," I explained with a smile, opening the passenger door for her.

Chapter 80 3

I didn't tell Sylvia it was Selena's, nor did I mention to Selena that I was using her car to take my girlfriend out.

Although, if I had asked, Selena would've been generous enough to give me the car.
