Love That Wasn't Meant to Last novel Chapter 15

Zion looked at me with both frustration and resignation. "I'm begging you. Just go see Selena. I've been looking for you for so long and only recently found out you work here."

I never thought I would hear these words from him. After remembering how arrogant he used to be, I almost felt like laughing. "It's over between me and her. Besides, I have a girlfriend now." With that, I showed him a photo of Sylvia and me together.

When he saw our picture, he laughed again. This crying and laughing act of his was beyond my interpretation. After a few minutes, I took my phone back from him. "I don't have time to waste with you here. I need to get to work."

I stood up, ready to leave, but to my surprise, he started crying outright, his tears dropping onto the table one by one. "Do you know that Selena tried to kill herself because of you?

"Barely half a year after breaking up with her, and you're already with someone else. She still talks about you like you're a good man, Hudson. But who do you think loves Selena more between you and me?"

Suicide? How could she think of suicide?

My mind went blank.

Suicide? Why would she…?

She was always so full of life, always smiling—how could she even consider something like that?

"What's the point of living without you? Hud, I'm sorry. Just promise me you'll live well, okay? I'll be watching over you."

Then, she took a sharp knife and began slashing at her wrist. In an instant, blood dripped from her arm, staining the floor below. She looked at her wounded wrist and suddenly began to laugh.

"Hud, if I die, will you love me again? Turns out, slitting my wrist doesn't even hurt that much. After all, compared to the pain you caused me, what's a little cut?

"Hud, I love you. I truly love you. I'm sorry. Just come back. Where are you hiding? How long are you going to keep avoiding me? Hud, I miss you so much."
