Lost Me, Gained Regret (Jane and Bryant Ferguson) novel Chapter 870

Jane gently patted her head. "Let’s give that little girl a video call first."

Christine hurried to find her phone and opened the landlord's contact.

As soon as the call connected, the little girl’s eyes were red.

Tears still streaked her cheeks.

The landlord was with her, keeping her company without sleep.

Christine apologized, "I’m so sorry for disturbing your rest."

"Don’t mention it." The landlord stroked her daughter’s head. "As long as you’re safe."

Christine smiled at the little girl. "Thanks to this brave little one, I’m perfectly fine."

The little girl leaned closer to the screen. "You're lying, sis. Your lips are all swollen."

"Uh..."

Christine cleared her throat. "That's just because I ate something spicy."

To prevent the little girl from saying more, Christine continued, "Alright, time for bed. We’ll chat again after school."

"Sis had quite the adventure and needs some rest too."

The little girl, understanding, handed the phone back to her mom and went to bed.

Christine told the landlord, "I’ve decided not to rent the apartment anymore, but you can keep the deposit for all the trouble."

The landlord replied, "No need for formalities. If you ever want to come back, this place will be here for you."

Christine thanked her and ended the call.

Jane teased, "Seems like you're doing pretty well out there."

Christine, however, said, "Jane, Dailey told me earlier that he won’t bother me anymore."

"Does that make you happy?"

Only Jane would ask such a question.

Christine tucked her hands into her pockets and squatted down. She shook her head, "I don’t know. My feelings are mixed."

Jane crouched down beside her. "Let me tell you something, and you can decide for yourself."

"Go ahead."

"Dailey has stomach issues. After your breakup, he drank heavily for a while. Then he was flying all over the place looking for you, not eating properly. The Clarkson family kept him under tight watch, and he went on a hunger strike."

As soon as Dailey arrived at the hospital, the Clarkson family was there.

Jane and Christine were given protection, with Gregory accompanying them, just in case.

"It’s nothing serious, just a stomach spasm. He just needs to rest and recover after the IV."

The Clarkson family nodded, taking a seat in the room.

Jayne sat by the bed, watching Dailey’s pale lips and peacefully closed eyes, feeling a pang of heartache.

Their upbringing was strict, but after all the hardships to have this one child, how could she not care?

She had wavered before.

Considered letting him follow his heart.

But she knew that if she did, he would have a critical weakness.

The more vulnerable he became, the less she could allow it.

Gregory glanced at the sorrowful Jayne and approached Normand, speaking softly, "Have you dealt with The Sinclair Family? If you need help, I can handle it."

Before coming to the hospital, representatives from The Sinclair Family arrived, saying they couldn’t reach Serena.
