Chris Shelby muttered to himself, "It seems this is indeed an array! Of these six stone doors, only one leads to the palace. The others are traps, and entering them could be dangerous."
To ensure safety, Chris Shelby began his research.
An hour later, he finally found the correct stone door. Without hesitation, he stepped through it.
Before him lay a massive hall. The empty hall was filled with numerous puppets. These puppets were lifelike, resembling ancient Terracotta Warriors.
The presence of these ancient Terracotta Warriors surprised Chris Shelby. He knew that Terracotta Warriors were rare and typically belonged to ancient royal families.
Before Chris Shelby could react, the Terracotta Warriors suddenly moved. With a series of cracking sounds, these ancient warriors awakened from their millennia-long slumber.
Roaring furiously, they seemed angry at the intrusion that disturbed their rest. In moments, they brandished bronze swords and attacked Chris Shelby and his companions.
"Damn!" Tiger cursed upon seeing this.
Chris Shelby snapped, "What are you waiting for? Destroy these Terracotta Warriors!"
"Yes!" Tiger shouted, leading the royal guards into battle against the warriors.
Chris Shelby also launched his attack. With a punch, he sent one Terracotta Warrior flying. However, it wobbled back to its feet.
Chris Shelby was shocked. "These Terracotta Warriors have such strong defenses? Even my punch couldn't shatter them!"
Though Chris Shelby hadn't used his full strength, his punch was powerful enough to kill a Grandmaster-level cultivator. Yet, it only knocked the warrior back.
Suddenly, Chris Shelby recalled a historical record he had read. It described how Emperor Frederick created Terracotta Warriors using live humans, coating them in clay and firing them in kilns. These warriors were once his strongest soldiers, meant to form a powerful undead army in the afterlife.
Could the historical records be true?
As Chris Shelby pondered this, another Terracotta Warrior attacked him. He punched again, this time shattering it into pieces. Relieved, he realized that while difficult to kill, these warriors weren't invincible.
"Tiger! These Terracotta Warriors are strange; be careful!" Chris Shelby shouted.
"Got it, boss!" Tiger replied loudly.
Tiger had already noticed their peculiarity. Several royal guards had been killed by the warriors initially but quickly recovered their composure. Working together, they began to shatter the warriors piece by piece.
Just as Chris Shelby and his team gained the upper hand, an unexpected event occurred. A deafening noise echoed as the ground shook violently. To their shock, more Terracotta Warriors swarmed from all directions like an organized army.
However, as time passed, they grew increasingly exhausted.
"Boss, I can't hold on much longer!" Tiger gritted his teeth.
"Let's go! Retreat!" Chris Shelby ordered after knocking two more warriors away.
Despite their retreat, the relentless warriors pursued them fiercely.
Chris Shelby frowned and muttered to himself, "Where could Peterson Abernathy and the others be?"
With a clang, Chris Shelby drew his sword. Tiger and the others also unsheathed their swords. With a loud shout, Chris Shelby slashed at a warrior's head, decapitating it and causing its body to collapse.
The royal guards followed suit and eventually broke free from the pursuing warriors. However, distant sounds of battle indicated that Peterson Abernathy's group was also in trouble.
Entering a passageway littered with corpses from the Abernathy family, they saw Peterson Abernathy battling thousands of warriors nearby.
Given his enmity with the Abernathy family, Chris Shelby had no intention of helping them. He cast a cold glance before leading Tiger down another passageway to leave.
