Amerosia.
East Coast Airport.
A private plane finally landed after a short while of hovering, escorted by dozens of fighter jets.
The airport was heavily guarded and full of armed soldiers!
Rumors spread all over the East Coast - a bigwig was coming.
This person was the one and only five-star general in Amerosia, the first Primus and, as more people preferred to call him, Lord Death!
Even James Mester, the wealthiest man in East Coast, was shut out when he wanted to come to receive him!
And the reason why Chris Shelby returned this time, was only to meet one person!
His wife!
The eldest daughter of the Jefferson family - Esther Jefferson!
...
Jefferson Manor.
Chris Shelby stood in front of the villa and seemed to have been lost in a flash of reminiscence.
Five years ago.
He fell victim in a family feud. He was kicked out of the wealthy Shelby family and ended up in the East Coast, without any food or any financial support, like a stray dog!
Eventually, it was the Jeffersons who, as advised by a fortune teller, took him in and married their eldest daughter Esther Jefferson to him.
On the next day of the wedding, Chris responded to the call of the country and resolutely joined the army.
Now that five years had passed, he had been the Primus in Amerosia with an unparalleled status!
To make up for the guilt that year, Chris returned to the East Coast to find Esther Jefferson.
Chris stepped into the house.
However, he was almost instantly shocked by what he saw.
On the courtyard outside the villa.
There was a little girl about four or five years old. She looked so pale and thin, and obviously, she was malnourished.
Most importantly.
A chain was placed around her neck.
She was like a dog lying on the ground.
Licking a broken bowl!
When he saw this, for some reason, Chris felt his heart tighten. His heart ached for the little girl.
"Sir, could you give me something to eat? I'm really hungry!"
The little girl raised her head and looked at Chris eagerly.
Chris hastily reached for a cookie from his pocket and handed it to her.
The little girl picked it up and devoured it.
"You unwanted bastard. How dare you beg in front of the Jefferson family! I am killing you today!"
At this time, a vicious middle-aged woman came out with a bamboo stick and started to beat the girl continuously.
The little girl then was dodging and crying.
"Please... don't hit me... I'm just really hungry... It hurts..."
When he saw this, a trace of anger appeared on Chris's face.
For a moment, his heart seemed to be stung by something!
How could there be such a vicious person in this world?
"Stop!"
Chris walked over. He reached out to grab the bamboo stick of the middle-aged woman.
The woman looked at Chris with disdain, "Who the heck are you and how dare you meddle in my business?"
"How could you bear to hurt such a little girl!"
When he looked at the bruised little girl, Chris's heart was burning with anger.
"It's none of your business! She's just a sinful bastard of the Jefferson family. I can torture her however I want. You are getting yourself in trouble if you dare to meddle!"
The middle-aged woman looked at Chris and said coldly.
Chris was stunned for a moment and asked subconsciously, "A sinful bastard of the Jefferson family? Whose daughter is she actually?"
The middle-aged woman sneered, "Whose daughter? Of course, her father is also a bastard! Everyone in the East Coast knows! Everyone knows it!"
"Five years ago, Esther Jefferson, the eldest daughter of the Jefferson family, married a homeless man, and the next day, the man ran away! Only this little bastard was left behind, and it had become a joke of the whole East Coast ever since!"
When he heard it, Chris felt as if he was struck by lightning!
Five years ago!
A homeless man!
With a loud bang, the woman fell heavily to the ground and fainted.
Chris looked terribly gloomy with obvious murderous intent written across his face.
The woman he had been thinking about for five years actually left their daughter behind and went to the Fairies' Secret to please other men. Was he really wrong about her?
Chris looked at his pale-faced and skinny daughter and asked distressedly, "What's your name?"
The little girl looked at Chris and responded, "Sir, my name is Hope Jefferson."
Hope Jefferson?
The name made Chris Shelby's heart tingle even more.
Esther Jefferson, what were you hoping for actually?
Were you hoping to find a rich man as soon as possible and be well taken care of?
Chris fought back the pain in his heart and asked, "What about your mother? Why isn't she with you?"
Hope opened her eyes wide and said, "Mom is busy making money. After Mom makes money, Hope won't go hungry. I can't eat enough every day. Everyone bullies me, beats me every day, and doesn't give me food..."
When he heard what she said, Chris could not hold his tears back anymore.
This was his own daughter who had suffered so much.
As the father, Chris didn't know about any of this. He thought he was a terrible person who didn't deserve to be a father at all!
Chris went through a lot of battles and wounds, but he never shed a tear.
But facing his daughter today, he burst into tears!
Men should barely shed tears unless they went through the worst sadness!
Chris continued, "What about your father?"
Hope lowered her head and said sadly, "I haven't seen my dad since I was born. Everyone says I am just a sinful bastard without a father. I have asked my mum where my dad is?"
"But she's always crying, and she always refuses to give me an answer. I know my mum must feel so sad, so I just stop asking then."
Chris asked, "Can I take you to your mother? Let's go."
"I don't think it's a good idea," Hope shook her head. "My mum says I shouldn't go with strangers."
"I'm not a stranger. I am your father... your father's friend."
The truth was on the tip of his tongue, but then he thought better of it.
Chris didn't think he deserved to be called father!
