He felt like he should get rid of Maddox since he accepted the job. He needed to assert his dominance over the cultivators and help Manand with their trouble.
They paid him handsomely, after all.
Shepard nodded and said, "Yes, sir. I'll do it in person tomorrow."
"Alright." Wilbur nodded.
The terms were agreed, so there was nothing left to say.
Julian was an ambassador, so he merely exchanged some pleasantries before leaving with Lucia.
Demi and the others started to work with Dasha over the next few days.
A huge number of victims went back to their nation by crossing the borders.
Demi and the others complied with Dasha seamlessly, and the Manand government turned a blind eye to the ordeal.
Their work was done after a few days, and everyone involved left.
Wilbur told Sophie, "You should head back too."
"Sir, can I come with you to watch the battle?" Sophie asked with a lowered gaze and clenched fists.
Wilbur frowned and asked, "Why?"
"I just wanted to watch," replied Sophie.
He shook his head and said, "That shouldn't be your concern. Please go back."
She lowered her gaze, and she did not dare to say anything else.
He looked at Shepard and said, "Let's go. We have to meet this Maddox person."
"You should be careful, sir. That cultivator really is something else," Shepard warned.
Wilbur smiled and said, "I will."
They went out and drove to the Manand mainland.
Based on their clothing, there were a lot of cultivators in the military and political sectors.
Moreover, some of the cultivators held high status. They were either generals or the people in charge of provincial cities.
Some of them were rich people who came to show their support.
The cultivators in the living room were all respectable figures of Manand.
There were more than a hundred of them who sat quietly. No one dared to speak loudly.
Suddenly, the manor's butler walked out and said, "Mister Maddox has arrived."
Everyone instantly stood up, turning to look at Maddox.
They all seemed serious and respectful.
It was as if they were faithful believers welcoming their god.
