Albert's words may seem ordinary, but they radiated an air of authority.
Wilbur heaved a sigh of relief internally, letting out a smile. "Alright. I'm going to let loose, then."
"Okay. All I'm worried about is your safety. You're on your own there, after all. But since there's been a change and you sound confident enough, full speed ahead. The department will cover you if anything happens," said Albert.
"Thank you, sir," Wilbur replied.
The call ended, and he let out a loud sigh.
Sophie interjected, "I'm sorry, sir. I've caused you so much trouble."
She knew that Wilbur now had no choice but to change his plan, and it was all because of her.
Sophie had inadvertently exposed other forces from Dasha who were hiding here as well. She was filled with nothing but regret, to the point that she was ready to sacrifice her life.
The only thing stopping her was that she did not want to die in humiliation, wanting to contribute at least a little if she could.
That would at least bring her some comfort knowing she died for a good cause.
Wilbur glanced at her. "Like I said earlier, you're a good cop, but you haven't quite made the cut yet. Go back to focusing on your detective work when you're back in Dasha. You're not cut out to be a spy just yet."
"Yes, sir. I know I'm not good enough for that now. I'll remember your words." Sophie lowered her head shamefully.
Just then, Wilbur looked at the door and mumbled, "They're here."
At the same time, tens of thousands of soldiers surged in from all directions to completely surround Spiralville.
The citizens panicked at the sight, bolting their windows shut and peeking out anxiously.
Griffin, Salem, Westley, and Jasper each stood right outside of the town along with their children and three Sanctuary level cultivators.
All of them were standing with their heads bowed then, looking over at a man standing next to them. He had long, black hair that fell around his shoulders, and was wearing long, green robes with a sword strapped to his back.
Just then, over in the headquarters, Sophie was scared witless by the sounds of weapons shots, staring fearfully at Wilbur.
Wilbur had just said to her that Spiralville was now fully surrounded, and she was to get ready.
What could she possibly be getting ready for, other than death?
Just then, Wilbur opened his arms. Terrifying energy spilled out at once.
Multiple forms of spiritual energy joined up to form a dome-shaped protective barrier, shielding the two of them inside.
The next second, the air began to rain with bullets.
The air rang with deafening explosions, and the ground began to shake.
In just a split second, the entire Leeker Corp headquarters had crumbled into a pile of debris.
