Leaving You Bereft (Willow and Julian) novel Chapter 85

Chapter 85

After standing up for herself, Willow felt liberated. She walked toward the parking lot leisurely.

In the distance, Dexter watched Willow silently. He still couldn’t believe that she would leave the Ziegler family as well as this alluring world of power and prestige.

But she had.

Julian was waiting for her downstairs, waiting outside the Rolls–Royce Phantom he often drove.

He was smoking outside the car. The morning sunlight illuminated the smoke, blurring its surroundings and his handsome face.

When he saw Willow approaching, Julian threw away the cigarette and stamped it out with his leather shoe.

He walked over and took her luggage, “I’ll take it.”

As their fingers touched, he noticed how cold her fingers were.

Julian couldn’t help but gently wrap her hand in his, his dark eyes scanning her pale face.

His voice was low and gentle. “It’s chilly these days. You should keep yourself warm.”

Willow thought he was being too clingy. They were getting a divorce, so there was no need to be so intimate.

She pulled her hand away and got into the car, saying calmly, “Let’s go to the apartment.”

She didn’t want Grace to find out what happened today, to avoid worrying her.

Julian seemed to understand and didn’t ask further. He just pressed on the accelerator.

He intentionally drove slowly. A 30–minute drive turned into 50 minutes instead.

At 10:00 am, the car finally pulled up at the apartment building.

Willow had her hands full with Snowy, making it inconvenient to carry the luggage. Julian gave Snowy a pat and stared at Willow.

“Let me take them upstairs for you.”

Two minutes later, Willow unlocked the apartment door. “Just leave the luggage here.”

She walked straight into the kitchen to turn on the main water supply.

Julian put down the luggage and quietly slipped into the kitchen.

Just as Willow stood up after turning on the valve, he wrapped his arms around her from behind.

In such a private moment, even a man like Julian could speak sentimentally. He brushed his lips against her ears and whispered softly,” Willow, let’s start over.

Behind her, the silence stretched on.

Willow chuckled. Sometimes, a man’s silence was as good as a denial.

However, she didn’t seem bothered.

Gently, she added, See? You don’t love me,

Chapter 85

“If something happens, I’ll always be the last priority. Julian, maybe you like me a little, but it’s nothing more than a calculated choice.

“It has nothing to do with love.”

When she spoke, her face was calm, as if love had long lost its weight in her heart.

Julian’s throat bobbed. He cupped her face, leaning in to kiss her.

Willow turned her face away. “Go home, your family is waiting for you at home.”

Julian reached in once again, unwilling to let go.

Suddenly, Willow shoved him away with force.

She raised her voice, with a hint of grief and anger, “Julian, I told you to leave! Do you not understand human speech?

“Or do you think you haven’t hurt me and humiliated me enough?”
