Leaving You Bereft (Willow and Julian) novel Chapter 289

Willow still didn't have any news about Julian. He'd basically disappeared from the world—Landon and Gabriella were the only ones who believed he'd gone abroad for a few years. They thought he was away for work.

After putting them to bed each night, Willow would sit in the lounge and listen to her vinyl. Grace's voice wasn't the only one on it—Julian's was, too. She would often find herself in tears as she listened to it.

October soon arrived, and the flowers and leaves in the garden started falling. Yet, Julian still hadn't returned.

Willow gave birth to a baby girl. All the Zieglers and Chapmans were with her at the hospital—even Laura had come from Yarrowmere, wanting to see how Willow was doing. Dorothy also came in case something went wrong with Willow and she needed a blood transfusion.

Everyone anxiously waited outside the operating theater. At 10:10 am, a baby's piercing cry echoed throughout the building. It was the Ziegler family's ray of hope—the baby's umbilical cord blood would save Landon.

She was wrapped in a pink swaddle after being cleaned. Then, a nurse carried her out of the operating theater so her family could see her. The nurse said, "She's a little princess."

Liam and Melanie had mixed feelings about the child's birth. They held her close, not wanting to let her go. She was a gift Julian had left for them, and Willow would be comforted by her presence. Landon and Gabriella would have a younger sister, and Liam and Melanie would have another granddaughter.

The only drawback was that Julian had forgotten everything!

He was waiting by Lake Tolpond for a woman who would never appear anywhere but his dreams. He didn't even know for whom he was waiting, and whatever history there was between them. All he did was stubbornly wait there.

A wave of sorrow washed over Melanie. She pressed her face to the baby's and murmured, "Grow up well, Evelyn. I'll be by your side to watch over you."

Evelyn was hungry after being changed. She opened her mouth, evidently wanting her mother's milk. Karen placed her in Willow's arms, and she naturally knew what to do. She shut her eyes as she sucked.

She looked like such a carbon copy of Julian that Melanie couldn't help but adore her. "She looks just like Julian."

Tears welled in Karen's eyes. "Girls tend to look like their fathers."

She turned to Melanie. "You have to stay strong."
