Leaving You Bereft (Willow and Julian) novel Chapter 23

Willow left the hospital and headed home. Julian quickly hurried after her.

After she stopped her car, Willow could see Julian standing next to his car, which was parked beside the sycamore tree.

When Willow exited her car, Julian moved to block her path. “We need to talk.”

Willow walked past him and headed for the elevator. “There’s nothing for us to talk about, Julian. I’ll see you in court.”

She went up to her floor, and Julian followed behind her. However, Willow did not let him into her apartment.

She leaned against the door after closing it. Julian took up a big part of her youth. It was actually really painful for Willow to try

and cut him off now.

She spent some time organizing her thoughts. Then, Willow took her bathrobe and went for a shower. As for whether Julian

would linger outside or leave, it was none of her business anymore.

As the night deepened, one could see through the windows of the building the lights going out one after another.

Inside a black car parked on the ground floor, a dim light was turned on. A man dressed in all black sat in the car. He gave off an

elegant, sophisticated aura even though his face showed no expression.

Julian was looking at his phone, more specifically at Willow’s photos saved in his phone’s photo album.

Willow was smiling softly in one of those photos. Julian had not seen her smile in a long time. In fact, they were just a few

minutes away from each other with one being inside the building and the other outside. Yet, Willow did not even want to speak to

him.

Julian was not exactly sure why he was trying so hard to save their marriage. Whether it was out of guilt and remorse or because

of Willow’s worth as the Nebula Group’s CEO’s wife.

There was an air of melancholy as the raindrops hit the bare branches of the sycamore tree. A man’s form could be seen vaguely through the car window.

The water droplets hanging from the tree branches fell onto the roof of the car one after the other, making a loud noise with each

drop.

In the morning, Willow took Snowy out for a walk. The weather had turned cold. She could see her breath after taking just a few

steps out of her building.

Willow was wearing a thin sweater dress and a brown coat. The belt accentuated her slim waist. Willow had let down her dark,

slightly curly hair. Overall, she exuded an exotic elegance.

Julian was watching her silently from inside the black car

supposed to be doing.”

Julian had a determined look in his eyes. “What are we supposed to be doing, then? Tell me, Willow. I’ll do as you say. We will…”

Willow’s expression hardened. “There is no we. There’s only you and me.”

Julian refused to take the food from her.

Willow went over to a garbage bin and tossed the bag of food and drink into the bin. Then, she turned around and looked at Julian.

“Julian, can both of us be a bit more rational? You’re not the old Julian, and I’m not the old Willow either. I don’t want you

anymore.”

Julian stood under the sycamore tree.

The good–looking man watched Willow’s receding figure silently. Just then, a water droplet fell from the tree branch and landed

on the corner of his eye before it rolled down his cheek…
