In the afternoon, Sylvia went back to the Bridgewater family's old house and made Marivic's favorite meal. Then, she took Chris, who was home from kindergarten to the hospital to visit Marivic.
The Bridgewater family's nanny was in the car also.
Sylvia and Chris sat alone in the back row while the driver and the nanny drove in front.
"Chris, Mommy has something to tell you." Sylvia stroked Chris's head and spoke kindly.
Chris blinked his big eyes, "Mommy, go ahead."
"Chris, Mommy is planning to take Jennifer back to Spring Gardens. From now on, you and Hendrick will live at the Bridgewater family house. You are more understanding and flexible than Hendrick, so take good care of him from now on. No matter what happens, you two brothers should love each other. Take care of each other, get it?" Sylvia spoke softly, her eyes full of reluctance and pain.
After all, she was going to give up on Chris.
She couldn't get custody of Chris. She didn't have the energy to fight Arthur.
Besides, the Bridgewater family was a wealthy family that attached great importance to their children. If she were to guess right, Arthur would soon hold a recognition ceremony, and after that, Chris and Hendrick would focus on training.
No matter how hard she tries, she can't provide the same kind of education as the Bridgewater family for Chris. For the sake of the child's well-being and growth, she accepted it.
Besides, Chris was agile, smart, sweet-talking, and knew how to read people's faces. She believed that he would protect her by staying with the Bridgewater family.
Ever since Marivic had a cardiac arrest that day, she had been thinking about this decision.
"Mommy, I'll go back with you too." Little Chris didn't know Sylvia's plan at all, hearing this, she smiled and he said, "I only want you and my sister."
"No, Grandma is still sick in bed, and she needs you. You can't come with us." Sylvia made up a reasonable excuse.
Chris thought about it and pecked his little head,
"Okay then. After Grandma gets better, I'll come back to you and Jennifer."
He liked his Grandma, didn't want to see her get sick, and wanted to spend some time with her. Besides, Grandma couldn't live without him!
"Yeah, okay." Sylvia nodded, "Then let's go to the ward. If Grandma asks if you want to stay, then you can just nod."
"Okay." Chris readily agreed.
"Great-grandpa, great-grandma, hello." Chris shouted cheerfully, "Mommy has prepared something delicious for you."
"Chris, my little great-grandson, come over quickly, Grandma missed you so much." Marivic saw her little great-grandson, her eyes squinting into a straight line with a smile."
Chris ran over.
Jessan hugged him and kissed him on the forehead.
"Grandpa, Grandma, let's eat first." Sylvia opened the flap, took out a light meal from the insulated box, and spoke softly.
"Okay." Marivic held Sylvia's hand, looking at her, her eyes reddening, "Sylvia, thank you, you've really worked hard."
"It's okay, I'm not working hard." Sylvia gently patted the old woman's hand and whispered, "Let's eat while it's hot."
She picked up the bowl and took a bowl of vegetable porridge. Today, she added pigeon soup to it.
Marivic wiped her eyes and started to drink the porridge.
