Sylvia watched them quarrel; she pursed her lips and shook her head.
Her heart was sour. The children and their father were indeed happy, playing and laughing, looking so happy... She sniffed, turned around, and walked into the kitchen, getting busy.
"You cooked so much; did you reserve it for someone?"
Sylvia was making soup with mustard greens, and when she heard him ask, she generously admitted, "Yes, I have been taking care of Charles these past few days, and he wants to eat the food I cook, so I definitely have to cook for him."
Arthur was annoyed, "Are you cooking for your lover at your ex-husband's house?"
Sylvia rolled her eyes at him and said, "Mr. Bridgewater, don't speak so harshly. Didn't you force me here to cook? It's not like I came on my own. Didn't you also bring a woman back home? You asked me to cook here and watch you show off your affection with another woman. Isn't that also one thing? You don't care about double standards, do you?"
Another woman?
Arthur froze for a moment, looked at Amelia, who was playing in the living room, and suddenly understood, and the corners of his lips curled up.
"Sylvia, do you have any conscience at all? My grandmother is so good to you, and you don't even want to cook a meal for her?"
Sylvia was speechless. Is that the same thing?
"Arthur, you can either get the hell out of here and stop being unreasonable here, or you cook it yourself." Sylvia put down the spatula.
"Okay, you're amazing." Arthur had to leave her because of his grandmother, so he had to swallow his ego and leave dejectedly.
After Sylvia finished making the pork rib soup, she poured it into the rice porridge, then took out the watercress and put it aside, and started kneading the flour to prepare the dumplings.
After a while, Chris and Jennifer ran in.
"Mommy, let me help you make dumplings."
"Mommy, I want to make dumplings too."
Jennifer gave her a blank look and snorted coldly. She didn't like Elaine at all, she wanted to argue with her about everything. Recently, she found that she liked to argue with her about Chris, and whenever Chris treated her with a little affection, she would become uncomfortable being around them, and looked at her coldly.
Sylvia saw the little ones coming over, so she smiled and said, "You all want to help Mommy with work, that's possible! It's also good to do some things to exercise your hands-on ability. How about this, you guys go to the dining room first. I'll bring the flour over, and you each take a bench and sit around the table. Let's reward whoever moves the fastest."
"Okay, then I'll be the fastest." Chris immediately climbed off the table and ran away with short legs.
"Brother, wait for me." Jennifer also ran over.
Not to be outdone, Hendrick turned around and ran to find a small bench.
Elaine saw that Jennifer was running faster than she was, so she was unwilling, and she quickened her pace.
Sylvia looked at the children's cheerful backs and smiled faintly.
