Arthur was taken aback once more.
Invited her?
"Wait." He was quick to catch on. Just as Sylvia was about to leave the CEO's office, he spoke up loudly, "Are you Ms. Daisy?"
Sylvia halted, her grip tightening on the bag accessory.
"And if I am?" She turned around gracefully, her fingers idly toying with the invitation.
Arthur's pale complexion shifted again, his eyes now displaying a cold and unpredictable gaze.
Having not seen her for six years, she appeared to be a different person. The once submissive woman who couldn't speak up in his presence had vanished from his memory.
Now, she stood before him, resembling a rose adorned with thorns—gorgeous and extravagant. Yet, she was even more beautiful and poised than before...
Indeed, he had invited Ms. Daisy, a globally renowned perfume expert, to the company for cooperation discussions. This explained his early presence at the company that morning.
Sheryl was the owner of Gucci Company, but it was apparent that she struggled to manage the company effectively. Under her leadership, the company had been running at a loss year after year. If it weren't for the sake of her two children, Arthur wouldn't have involved himself with it at all.
No matter how wealthy the Bridgewater Corporation was, Arthur, being a savvy businessman, had no intention of being taken advantage of. He was pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the venture annually, and it felt like a never-ending pit.
So, he decided to take matters into his own hands and hired international experts to turn the company around.
To his astonishment, the expert he appointed was none other than Sylvia—his ex-wife who had supposedly committed suicide by leaping into the sea six years ago.
"What's your agenda here?" Arthur was almost convinced that Sylvia had returned to cause trouble, and he scoffed with a cold sneer.
"Agenda?" She responded with a cold, disdainful smile. "I simply aim to revitalize Gucci Company, make it bigger and better, and restore it to its former glory."
"Are you being sincere?" He questioned.
"Then, what do you think my motive is?" Her voice suddenly escalated, becoming sharp and biting. "Did you think you're so good-looking that I'd return to seduce you? You truly believe you're attractive? How conceited!"
"Very well, since Ms. Lancelot possesses such talent, let's engage in a fruitful discussion." Arthur announced. For the first time in their history, he cast aside his arrogance and proactively broke the impasse.
He was intrigued and curious about the real capabilities of this woman he hadn't seen in several years. How daring she was to shout so boldly in his presence.
He had always excelled in situations where he was the apex predator!
After all, what was she but a woman? Furthermore, she was his ex-wife, someone he once regarded with disdain.
In the past, she was like an insignificant insect beneath his heel, incapable of resisting no matter how much she struggled.
And now, she was, at most, a minor figure. How could such a character hope to challenge the tides of fate?
With composure, he reseated himself on the sofa.
Sylvia gracefully walked over and took a seat across from him.
