"Happy birthday, Mommy."
Chris and Jennifer ran towards her then hugged her hands one at a time.
"Chris, Jen." Sylvia choked.
"Mommy, we made a birthday cake for you. Come and make a wish." Jennifer held her head high and smiled.
"Mommy, we added honey to the birthday cake. It's sweet." Christopher nodded his little head and took the bag for her.
"Thank you! Mommy's good babies." Sylvia bent down and hugged the two little ones, kissing their little faces one by one, feeling extremely self-reproached.
If it weren't for her, they wouldn't be up so late.
She immediately held their little hands and came to the dining table. The candlelight flickered, like the sun, moon and stars shining in the night sky, dissipating the darkness in front of her eyes. Her heart felt warm.
Jennifer clapped her hands and shouted excitedly, "Mommy, make a wish quickly."
Christopher also smiled and shouted, "Mommy, please make the best wish."
"Okay." Sylvia sat down at the dining table, put her hands into fists on her chin, and closed her eyes slightly.
After a while, she opened her eyes and blew out the candle.
Christopher turned on the light.
Sylvia started cutting the cake with red eyes. "Mommy has already made a wish. Come, let’s eat the cake.”
Because it was too late, the children had no appetite, so they just ate a little amount and then went to bed.
That night, Sylvia hugged the children to sleep. The night was filled with all kinds of strange dreams.
And the one who dreams the most is Hendrick.
He kept calling his Mommy in his sleep, which broke her heart.
For three days in a row, Hendrick began to force his father.
Every day he asked Arthur to invite Sylvia to their home to be his tutor.
Of course, Arthur would not be willing to do so. He pretended to be deaf and mute, ignoring him every day.
Hendrick is so angry that he stopped eating on the third day.
Wendy panicked, and then she paid him attention.
This day is Saturday.
"Hendrick." She shouted suddenly and called to Butler Lang, "Quickly, call the family doctor over. The child is sick."
Upon hearing this, Butler Lang hurriedly ran downstairs.
"Hendrick, Hendrick." Wendy picked up Hendrick and shouted anxiously.
Hendrick opened his eyes and cried weakly, "Grandma, my head hurts so much."
"My grandson." Wendy burst into tears instantly, "Grandma has already called the doctor. The pain will be gone soon. Please bear with it first."
She picked up the intercom phone next to her and asked the servant downstairs to bring an ice pack and put it on Hendrick's forehead. She also brought hot water to wipe his body.
The family doctor came over after a while.
After some examination, the doctor confirmed that it was just a cold, and there was nothing serious about it.
He prescribed some medicine. Wendy asked Hendrick to take it. Hendrick fell asleep after taking the medicine.
With a sad look on her face, Wendy sat next to Hendrick wiping her tears.
When Hendrick was growing up, she always felt that the child was missing something, but she couldn't put it in words. Seeing Hendrick lying weakly, she felt very sad.
