Larissa understood the meaning behind his words and smiled openly. “That’s right. I told my mom what you like. After all the lunches we’ve had together, I’ve got a pretty good idea of your preferences.”
Sapphira exchanged a knowing glance with her husband, who was standing beside Larissa, and they tactfully retreated into the house.
“I’ll take it from here, Crispin,” Larissa said with a smile.
Crispin nodded and stepped aside. “I’ll be waiting outside for you, sir.”
Larissa moved behind Haskell’s wheelchair and pushed him inside.
“You seem to be in a good mood,” Haskell observed. “I take it you won the case?”
“Yep,” Larissa replied cheerfully. “Thanks to the solid evidence you helped uncover, it was a slam dunk.” She paused. “But, just as you predicted, we still don’t have direct proof that Haven Health and HumanaMed Group are controlled by the Lincoln family.”
“It’s fine,” Haskell said. “Even if we can’t pin it on Lucius directly, this series of events must have his nerves shot. With one Lincoln family member after another getting into trouble while he remains powerless against me, Jedidiah must be losing faith in him. He’s probably on the verge of cutting him loose.”
“Exactly,” Larissa agreed. “And without Jedidiah’s protection, it’ll be easy to destroy the Lincoln family with all the information we have on them.”
The Lincoln family was, in essence, just a tool for Jedidiah to exert his influence and secretly amass wealth. Once that tool became a liability, Jedidiah wouldn’t hesitate to dispose of the ticking time bomb.
