Haskell's voice was quiet, but it carried a reassuring strength.
“Finally figured it out, have you? I was about to give up on you,” Larissa mumbled, popping a piece of beef into her mouth before calling for the security guard to open the gate.
The guard hesitated, glancing at the hostile family members outside. “Ms. Judson, are you sure you want to open it?”
“Open it,” Larissa repeated. “If they dare to make a move, let the police arrest them for public disturbance.”
With that, the guard swung the heavy iron gate open, allowing Haskell and his entourage inside. The troublemaking family members tried to surge forward but were blocked by the police.
“Let us in!” the middle-aged man shouted. “Are you police in on this with them?”
The elderly couple chimed in, “Why are you stopping us? We just want justice for our daughter-in-law and grandson!”
“Justice,” Larissa said coolly, “is what just arrived.”
Once inside, Haskell signaled Crispin to hand Larissa the files containing their findings. “Larissa, have a look. This is all the information and evidence Crispin managed to dig up these past two days.”
“Good,” Larissa nodded. She leaned down and planted a kiss on Haskell’s cheek. “Thank you, darling. You worked hard.”
The reporters on site were speechless.
Seriously? Was this really the time for a public display of affection? Had they no respect for the people seeking justice?
The livestream chat exploded.
[Ahhh! This is like something straight out of a romance novel! My heart!]
[Am I the only one who thinks this is inappropriate? The deceased’s family is standing right there with her picture!]
