Torrin scoffed, tossed the phone back to her, and then pulled out his own. He found the new number Avril had used while pretending to be Larissa and continued his verbal assault.
Sharon covered her ears. Finally fed up, she ordered the driver to pull over and kicked Torrin out of the car.
"Go home when you're done screaming. You're driving me crazy."
The automatic door slid shut, and the car sped off, leaving Torrin shivering in the biting wind. This only made him angrier. He raised his phone and yelled into it:
"Avril, you meddling shrew! Because of you, Sharon just kicked me out of the car!"
Avril's reply was swift: "I hope you freeze to death. The world would be better off without a menace like you!"
Torrin: "Don't worry! I won't die! I'll definitely outlive you!"
"Ha, I'm sure. With a skin as thick as yours, it would be hard to freeze to death. But if I were you, I'd die of shame!"
"Speaking of shame, that's all you! You're the shameless one, pretending to be Larissa to talk to me! I bet you were just trying to get my attention. You have a thing for me, don't you? You're the real simp! No matter what you do, I'll never be interested in you, so can you please stop bothering me?!"
"As long as you promise to stop harassing Larissa and trying to ruin her relationship with Haskell, I wouldn't waste my time talking to a brain-dead idiot like you! Every message I send you is an agony!"
…
After her afternoon nap, Larissa left the Palmer Group.
Haskell stood by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, watching her car drive away. The winter sun cast dappled light across his face.
After a moment, he picked up the phone and dialed Crispin.
"Sir, your orders?" Crispin answered immediately.
