[Pfft, it's simple. They’ll do what they did last time and find some useless family member to take the fall!]
Larissa turned back to Lucius, a slight smile playing on her lips.
“You see, Mr. Lincoln? The public knows the truth. Your family is already filthy. You don’t need me to throw any mud.”
Paxton chimed in, his voice loud and clear, “Mr. Lincoln, you hired that hitman! I heard he’s famous, with a zero-failure rate. Someone like me could never find a professional like that! Lucius orchestrated this whole thing to get back at my daughter, Larissa! If the plan had succeeded, my daughter would have been framed for murder!”
Lucius never imagined Larissa would stoop to this, bringing Paxton to his front door and live-streaming the whole spectacle.
In his original plan, even if the hit failed, he could just let Paxton take the blame. After all, the hitman would never betray the Lincoln family.
But now, with the Neverending Night scandal fresh in everyone’s minds, public opinion had turned completely against them and was firmly on Larissa’s side.
Lucius clenched his fists. “Larissa, turn off the live stream now! This isn't good for either of us!”
Larissa raised an eyebrow. “Scared? It seems Paxton was telling the truth. You really did hire the hitman.”
“I’m not turning it off. The people want to know the truth. And don’t even think about using your bodyguards to stop us. That would just be another crime on your list.”
“Besides, I’m curious, though. Why isn’t this good for me?”
Avril quickly read from her phone. “The viewers are saying you’re making enemies in high society! A lot of them are in bed with the Lincolns, and they’re telling you to watch your back!”
Larissa drew out a long “Ohhh.” “Thanks for the concern.”
