The first thing he did after pulling himself together was to track down the men who had kidnapped him. He hired the same hitman to kill the man and his entire family, dumping their bodies in the ocean.
From that moment on, he developed a taste for power, for holding life and death in his hands. He grew colder, more ruthless, and in doing so, earned his grandmother’s approval. She began to entrust him with managing most of the Lincoln family’s businesses.
“You owe your father a debt that you must repay!” she had told him sternly. “Make the Lincoln family the most powerful in Regal City, so no one can ever look down on us again!”
He had done well since taking over. Neverending Night, in particular, served as a crucial intelligence hub, providing invaluable information for the Lincoln family’s operations.
But now, he had made a fatal error. Neverending Night was finished.
Worse, if the scandal grew, the Lincoln family would need a high-profile figure to take the fall.
“You haven’t just failed your father, you’ve failed the entire Lincoln family!” Helena screamed, hurling the prayer beads at his head. “I told you, when you deal with an enemy, you either eliminate them in one strike, or you don’t strike at all! But you? You failed to take care of Larissa time and time again, and you didn't even have the sense to be cautious! You let her inflict this much damage on us!”
After her tirade, Helena turned to the butler. “Have the videos and news about Neverending Night been suppressed?”
The butler’s face was grim. “Not yet…”
“Why can’t you even handle something as simple as suppressing a story?!” Helena’s voice rose to a shriek.
Lucius immediately said, “Grandma, I’ll find out what’s going on right now.”
He started to pull out his phone.
“Don’t bother! If your people can’t take it down, it means someone is stopping them!” Helena had already grasped the situation and wasn’t going to let her grandson waste any more effort.
