“Helena, what’s going on? Why would you turn away business?” a burly man demanded.

“Exactly! We came all this way, and you just shut the doors on us?” another added.

“Or maybe,” someone else sneered, “you’re up to something shady in there.”

Helena’s expression hardened. “Don’t spread baseless rumors. The Neverending Night operates a legitimate business. The power issue from before has not been fully resolved, and we are conducting a thorough inspection for safety reasons. It is simply not safe for guests tonight.”

“The power issue? It’s been weeks!” someone grumbled.

“We are working as fast as we can,” Helena explained patiently. “As a token of our apology for the inconvenience, all of your expenses will be covered by us tomorrow night.”

“Everything is free?” a murmur of surprise went through the crowd.

“Yes,” Helena confirmed. “Come back tomorrow, and everything will be on the house.”

That quieted them down. After a moment, one of them said, “Alright, since you put it that way, Helena, we’ll see you tomorrow.”

The others agreed, and the crowd began to disperse. Once they were gone, Helena entered the club and ordered her bodyguards to seal every entrance and exit. “Guard the doors. No one gets in, and no one gets out.”
