“You flatter me,” Haskell said humbly.
Larissa chuckled. “Which one is from you?”
“The file folder,” he replied.
“Then I’ll open Grandpa Zoltan’s first.” Larissa lifted the lid of the ornate wooden box. Inside lay an assortment of seeds.
“What are they?” Avril asked, puzzled.
Larissa recognized them instantly. “These are seeds for rare medicinal herbs from abroad. You can’t find them in this country because they’re incredibly difficult to cultivate.”
She looked up at Zoltan. “Thank you for this wonderful gift, Grandpa Zoltan.”
“I’m glad you like them,” Zoltan said, a hint of admiration in his voice. “I know you cultivate many precious herbs. It was only after you gave me that rare plant at the welcome dinner that I learned the top auction house in Regal City gets all its rare herbs from you. Truly remarkable for someone so young.”
Paxton and Josette were stunned. Every year, the wealthiest families in Regal City fought tooth and nail over the rare herbs sold at that auction house, but no one, aside from the owner, knew the supplier’s identity. To think it was Larissa all along.
No wonder… No wonder the auction house owner had attended Larissa and Haskell’s engagement party.
...
“What?! All those rare herbs from Regal City’s biggest auction house are cultivated by Larissa?”
In a private suite at the Neverending Night club, Lucius and his entourage stared at the live feed from the party, completely shocked by Zoltan’s revelation.
