Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 668

Damon frowned. He knew Trudy was just a pawn, but what could he do? She worked for Lucius. He had just arrived at the hospital after hearing the news about his son when Lucius himself had called, ordering him to tell Margot to back off and stop pushing the police to investigate further. Trudy, he had explained, worked for him.

Damon understood immediately. Whatever work Trudy did for Lucius, it was dirty. Lucius wanted this case closed before any of it came to light.

"Margot, listen to me," he said, "let it go. Trudy is the one who killed Theon. The surveillance footage is clear. There's no doubt. As for who was behind it, we shouldn't pressure the police to dig any deeper."

"Damon! How can you say that? That was your son who died! Your only son!" Margot screamed, her voice raw with fury. It was the first time she had ever raised her voice at him. For twenty-four years, since she was eighteen, she had been the perfect, understanding companion, always agreeing with him, all to secure her position as a wealthy man's wife and ensure her son would inherit everything.

But now, her son was dead. Just as Livia had gloated, Damon's fortune would no longer be hers alone. He could decide to have another son. She couldn't have more children, but he could find a younger woman who could.

For the first time, her carefully constructed persona shattered.

Damon's face hardened. "That's enough! Of course I'm in pain, but are we supposed to do nothing but grieve? Women are so emotional! Handle our son's funeral arrangements. You are not to get involved in anything else!"

With that, he pushed her away and strode out of the hospital with his assistant.

Margot stood frozen, her hands clenched into fists. She didn't call after him.
