Sapphira grew even more bashful. “You don’t have to do that. You’re the star of the party.”
“So, how are the preparations for your fashion design studio coming along?” Larissa asked, turning to her.
“I’ve just secured a location and signed the lease,” Sapphira said. “I’ll be hiring someone to draw up the interior design plans in the next few days, and then we can start renovations.”
“With your talent and style, the studio will be flooded with orders,” Larissa said earnestly. “I truly believe that if you stick with it, you can build a new luxury fashion brand.”
The praise and validation bolstered Sapphira’s confidence, which had been slowly returning after so many years away from fashion design. “I’m going to see it through. I did promise that I would personally design a unique gown for you for every formal event from now on.”
Neville put on a pitiful expression. “Sapphira, have you ever considered designing menswear? Maybe you could do some custom pieces for me in the future?”
Sapphira shot him a look. “As if I have that much energy.”
He sighed dramatically. “Alas, now that you have your daughter, this husband of yours is no longer the favorite.”
“When did you get so shameless?” Sapphira said, unable to hide a smile.
“I learned from our daughter,” Neville shot back instantly.
“That’s not true!” Larissa protested with a laugh. “Dad, you’ve always been the quiet, brooding type. You’re just not hiding it anymore.”
Her words made Sapphira burst out laughing. “I give up on you two.”
After she had composed herself, she carefully hung the gown back up. “We’ll bring it out again on the day of your party.”
