At Trudy’s question, Lucius gathered the documents on the table and leaned back into his leather chair. “Thanks to you, I’ve uncovered a very valuable piece of information.”
Trudy sounded confused on the other end. “I’m afraid I don’t understand, Mr. Lincoln.”
An irrepressible excitement gleamed in Lucius’s eyes. “You don’t need to. Just collect your reward. A ten-million-dollar bonus will be wired to your account tomorrow. As for the person who killed your mother, don’t worry. I’ll find them for you soon enough.”
The news that the little bastard Trudy was hunting was actually Haskell’s younger brother was worth far more than ten million to Lucius. If he could find the boy before Haskell did, he could finally crush Haskell under his heel and become the undisputed king of Regal City.
“Alright. I trust you’ll find him, Mr. Lincoln. I’ll continue to do my best for you.”
After Lucius hung up, Livia set a lunch box on the table and sat beside him. She leaned in, wrapping an arm around his and asking curiously, “Who was that, Lucius? You seem to be in a great mood today.”
Lucius tossed his phone aside and turned to stare at her. “A woman. What, are you going to get jealous and go after her like you did with Honora?”
The mention of Honora put Livia on high alert. Larissa had told her that Lucius had already found Honora, which meant Honora must have told him how she’d helped Larissa.
Lucius was onto her. Knowing his personality, he wouldn’t have let her off the hook for such a betrayal. Yet he hadn’t exposed her, which meant she still had some use to him.
Larissa had already told her to stand down and just protect herself, but could she really do that by doing nothing? Could she just watch her father’s illegitimate son inherit the company while she was married off to Lucius like a pawn?
