“...Yes, Grandpa,” Leopold said, picking up his cutlery and eating in silence.
Finley, too, retracted his hopeful gaze.
Throughout the meal, Paxton’s family ate distractedly, their eyes constantly on Kiernan, waiting for him to finish.
Finally, when Kiernan set down his fork, Leopold immediately put down his own cutlery. “Grandpa…” he began eagerly.
Finley looked up again, his fingers tightening around his knife and fork. This was his last chance. If the poison wasn’t cured, he might actually resort to killing himself right here in front of his grandfather to force the issue.
Kiernan wiped his mouth with a napkin. “Alright, Leopold, I know what you want to ask. And I’ll tell you. Larissa has agreed.”
Leopold stared, stunned for a moment, before his eyes lit up. He turned to Larissa, who was sitting next to Neville and Sapphira, his expression filled with fervent hope.
Larissa ignored his intense gaze.
Finley was so overjoyed he pushed his chair back and shot to his feet, his voice trembling uncontrollably. “Is it true? Larissa, are you really willing to cure me?”
Larissa glanced at him, her tone devoid of emotion. “I don’t care if you die, but I’m not going to let Grandpa’s health fail because of you.”
Whatever the reason, all that mattered to Finley was that he would be cured.
“Thank you, Larissa!” he exclaimed, his whole body shaking with excitement. “I’m saved! I’m finally saved!”
Vivica, thrilled by the news, couldn’t help but ask, “So you admit you were the one who poisoned Finley?”
