Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 435

Seeing his son's vehement reaction, Paxton quickly recalibrated, a new plan forming in his mind. "Leopold, relax," he said soothingly. "Yes, I want to reclaim our family's assets, but I would never harm your sister. We can use the Lincolns to get back what's ours, and then we can arrange for your sister to fake her death to deceive them. In a way, we'd be saving her, don't you see?"

Faking her death? Impossible. It was just a lie to placate his son and prevent him from interfering.

When Leopold still looked skeptical, Paxton pressed on. "You know that after what happened with Josette and Jagger, the Lincolns will never let your sister go. Last night's trending topic was just the beginning of their revenge. This will not end until one side is destroyed.

If we side with them, we can mediate from the inside. We can protect the family business and find a way to keep your sister safe."

Leopold was still hesitant. "Dad, are you being serious?"

Paxton nodded earnestly. "Of course. I won't force you to do anything. You just need to continue trying to make amends with your sister, to gain her trust. Let me and Finley handle the alliance with the Lincolns."

"Dad," Leopold said, his voice low, "do you swear it?"

Paxton almost choked. He managed a weary smile. "Of course I do. I swear, if I ever harm your sister again, may I die a horrible death."

With the family fortune on the line, what was an empty oath? As if breaking a promise could actually kill him.

Hearing his father stake his own life on the vow, Leopold finally let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "Okay, Dad. I believe you. And I'll do my best to earn Larissa's trust so she'll cure Finley."
