After his failed attempt to plead with Larissa, Leopold ate the rejected breakfast himself and then went to look at apartments, his spirit crushed.

He had spent the night waiting outside the Judson estate scrolling through rental listings and had found a decent four-bedroom place. The location wasn't ideal, but given their current circumstances, it would have to do. Later, he could use the money he'd earned since his debut to buy a proper house.

After signing the lease and paying the deposit and first month's rent, Leopold arranged for a moving service online before heading back to the Caldwells'.

Chester hadn't gone to work. He was waiting. Lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed, he scrolled through Leopold's Twitter feed with a contemptuous sneer. Pathetic. His entire family had been beaten down by one woman, forced to hide out at their house, and now he was on social media, wagging his tail and begging for her approval. It was a disgrace. He was embarrassing the entire Caldwell family by association.

When Leopold walked in, Chester put down his phone.

"Leopold," he drawled, "didn't you swear you'd be out of here today? Your mom left early this morning, and you and Finley have been MIA. What, decided you want to freeload a little longer?"

Leopold shot him a cold look. If he weren't trying to avoid making things harder for his uncle, he never would have tolerated such disrespect.

"You can relax. I've already called a moving company. We'll be gone soon."

"How soon is soon?" Chester pressed. "You're not planning on mooching lunch off us too, are you? I didn't tell the kitchen to prepare anything for your family."

"We won't need it," Leopold said through clenched teeth. He ignored Chester and went upstairs, knocking on his father's door before entering.

"Dad, it's time to pack. We're leaving."
