Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 408

“Don’t worry,” Leopold snapped, his voice dripping with contempt. “We wouldn’t want to stay here. We’ll be gone by tomorrow!”

Chester smirked. “Good. See that you are.”

He turned and went back inside, leaving Leopold and Vivica standing in the driveway.

“Mom, let’s go buy a villa right now,” Leopold said. “We’re not staying here.”

Vivica looked distressed. “With what money, Leopold? You know the property prices in Regal City. Even a modest place costs a million!”

Leopold stared at her in disbelief. “Don’t tell me we don’t even have a million to our name.”

Vivica sighed. “The company’s been struggling for years, and your grandfather has kept a tight rein on our personal spending. The money I have is just what I’ve managed to save over the years.”

She added, almost gratefully, “It’s a good thing your sister didn’t accept the money I offered her last time. I was trying to make peace.”

Leopold looked at his mother, completely speechless. He said tiredly, “Mom, is that really something to be thankful for?”

“Isn’t it? If she’d taken it, we'd be in an even tighter spot now.”

“If she had taken it,” Leopold reminded her, “it would have meant she was willing to forgive us!”

Vivica froze, the realization finally dawning on her.

“You’re right. If Larissa had forgiven us then, none of this would be happening.”

But Leopold’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “I’m not so sure. As long as Honora was living with us, we never would have treated Larissa with genuine kindness. And with her personality, she would never have put up with that kind of treatment from us.”

Vivica fell silent, sighing again. “Well, at least we know the truth now. We were deceived by Honora. If we work hard to show Larissa we care, she’ll come around eventually.”
