“Cat got your tongue?” Garrick stepped closer, a malicious grin spreading across his face. “Don’t be scared. I just want to know—was it that bitch Larissa who put you up to it? You wouldn’t have had the guts to cross me if she wasn’t pulling the strings, would you?”
At the mention of Larissa, Finley’s face grew even paler, but he forced himself to shake his head. “It wasn’t my sister.”
Garrick burst out laughing as if he’d just heard the world’s funniest joke.
“Your sister? That rolls off the tongue so easily now, doesn’t it? Who was the one who wanted to beat and kill his own sister before? And now you’re putting on this protective act.”
The words hit a nerve, and a flash of pain crossed Finley’s face.
“Alright, drop the guilt-ridden brother routine. It’s not fooling anyone,” Garrick said, slamming his hand down on Finley’s shoulder. The threat in his voice was unmistakable. “I’ll give you one more chance. Tell me the truth. Did Larissa tell you to steal my woman? If you lie, you’ll be the one to face my wrath.”
A sharp pain shot through Finley’s shoulder, but he stood tall, gritting his teeth. “It wasn’t her,” he forced out. “I just couldn’t stand what you were doing!”
Garrick’s sneer turned sinister. “Fine. Have it your way. But this newfound brotherly love for Larissa is going to be something you regret.”
With a wave of his hand, Garrick’s bodyguards seized Finley and shoved him into a nearby car.
From the ground floor of the Starlight Media building, 001 witnessed the entire scene. It recognized Finley. The man was in its database.
