“Torrin Dillon, shut your mouth!” Draven shouted, realizing the situation was spiraling out of his control. He and his bodyguards rushed forward, trying to stop Torrin from saying another word.
Larissa couldn’t help but smile wryly at the spectacle. “Well, it seems Draven has managed to trip himself up with Torrin before we even had to lift a finger.”
Haskell smiled back. “Draven never understands. The only reason he was ever able to scheme against me was because I used to trust him, not because he was particularly clever.”
Unfazed by Draven’s warning, Torrin continued speaking to Larissa, bold as ever. “You want me to shut up? I don’t think so! I’m going to say my piece! I thought it was strange at the time, so I asked him why he would help me win you over.”
This time, Larissa played along. “Oh? And what did he say?”
Torrin pointed a finger at Haskell. “He said he was doing it to help his brother! He said Haskell didn’t really want to marry you, so he invited me here to ruin your engagement!”
Having delivered this bombshell, Torrin looked smug. Surely, after he exposed Haskell in front of everyone, Larissa would never go through with the marriage.
“I see,” Larissa said, feigning deep interest. “Is there more? What else did Draven say? Or what else did he want you to do?”
Encouraged by her response, Torrin stood up straighter. “Yes! There’s something even more despicable!”
Draven was practically vibrating with rage. He finally reached Torrin and grabbed him by the collar. “Didn’t you hear me? I told you to shut up!”
