Kiernan and Paxton entered the room, followed by Honora and Finley, all of their faces grim. Honora couldn’t believe Larissa had actually dared to harm Leopold so severely. She was certain it had been a deliberate act.
Finley’s feelings were more complicated. He knew Leopold had been planning to go after Larissa, but he never imagined it would end like this. And he still didn’t know what Larissa’s needle had done to Leopold.
Larissa casually popped the last bite of her pasty into her mouth, chewing slowly as her eyes scanned the room.
“Well, well,” she thought with a smirk, “everyone’s here again. Except Leopold, of course.”
Kiernan sat down, supported by Paxton.
“Larissa was injured in the accident too, Vivica,” he said in a low, stern voice. “Do you really think she would risk her own life just to harm Leopold?”
“Of course she would! It’s too much of a coincidence!” Vivica retorted. “Dad, I’ve let your favoritism slide in the past, but this is about my son’s life! If you don’t give us justice for this, I will kill Larissa myself!”
