Vivica, exhausted, finally relented. “Alright. You watch him closely. Keep talking to him. Try to wake him up. It’s the least you can do after how much he’s doted on you.”

“Of course, Mom. I’ll take good care of him,” Honora said dutifully.

Vivica left, and Honora watched until the elevator doors closed before shutting the hospital room door. She sat down by Leopold’s bed and looked at his still form.
