Leopold’s patience snapped. He slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet. “That’s enough! Stop wasting your breath on this brat! Isn’t it obvious? We walked right into her trap! She said she’d ruin our careers, and now her little scheme has gotten our hopes up for nothing!”
Larissa nodded theatrically. “Wow, Leopold, you’re so clever!”
He glared at her. “Don’t get too cocky, Larissa!”
“How can I not be,” she said, toying with her coffee cup, “when I see you all looking so defeated?”
“So you admit it! Today’s meeting was a setup!” Leopold slammed the table again, rattling the coffee set.
Larissa shrugged. “I admitted nothing. You’re the ones jumping to conclusions. I’m just playing along.”
Leopold’s fists clenched. “I know you won’t admit it. You’re afraid I’ll record you, just like you did to me, and tell Grandpa! Well, don’t worry, I wouldn’t stoop to your level!”
Honora looked at Solon, her voice dripping with disappointment. “Solon, I never thought you were this kind of person. To think I looked up to you as an idol, a friend…”
Solon simply gave her a cool, indifferent glance. “And I never thought you were just like your brother, refusing to trust me and assuming I was deceiving you.”
“Alright, it’s clear this meeting is pointless,” Finley said, his voice cold. He shot a final, hard look at the unperturbed Larissa before turning on his heel and leaving the room.
Honora glanced at Haskell, who had been enjoying the show from beside Larissa, then followed Finley out.
Leopold pointed a finger at Larissa. “I won’t let you get away with this, Larissa! You just wait. The louder you laugh now, the harder you’ll cry later!”
