Manuela’s POV
I didn't sleep at all last night. My mind kept going round and round about this whole family situation. My family... I didn't even share their blood, but they were my family, and I loved them sincerely. I was sitting in the kitchen having a cup of coffee. It was still very early, and everyone was sleeping when I got up. I took the opportunity to prepare a nice breakfast table; I wanted to please my father and Cam. If I was suffering through all this, imagine those two - Cam lost his mother because of that woman!
"I can hear it from here, little one," Flavian interrupted my thoughts. I looked at him, confused, and he explained, "The gears turning in your brain, I can hear them from here."
He was standing in the kitchen doorway, looking so handsome in black pants and a white cotton shirt that showed off every muscle in his body, though it wasn't the type that clung to his form.
"It's a lot to process, Flavian, and it's all so absurd." He came closer, took the mug from my hands, and drank my coffee. "Hey, my coffee!" I joked, trying to lighten the already tense mood so early in the morning.
"You can get it back from my mouth!" He said sexily, kneeling between my legs and kissing me. A kiss full of love, warm, moist, tasting of coffee mixed with the sweet taste of his mouth.
"Now I want to have my coffee like this all the time," I said when he pulled away, and I saw the smile on his face.
"Ahem!" We looked at the door and saw Cam standing there staring at us. "Can you not kiss my little sister like that?"
"No, I can't," Flavian hugged me and kissed the top of my head.
"At least you let us sleep last night," Cam teased, and I turned red.
"Only because Orlando is home and I respect him," Flavian provoked my brother once more.
"Move, let me say good morning to my sister," Cam approached and pushed Flavian's leg with his foot.
These two were getting along so well they seemed like brothers, teasing each other. Flavian squeezed me a little tighter in his arms before letting go, and Cam huffed. After Flavian stepped away, I stood up and hugged my brother.
"Did you sleep?" Cam asked, still holding me.
"Not at all," I was honest.
I spent the night wide awake with my mind spinning, and whenever I closed my eyes, I saw the image of Cam's mother, that beautiful woman with such lovely features and such loving eyes. Cam always talked about what a wonderful mother she was, and I always envied him for having had the luck of having a sweet mother who loved him.
In my fantasies, I secretly dreamed that I was her daughter and that she treated me with the same sweetness and affection she showed to Cam. With everything exploding like a burning building, I regretted not being her daughter, not being that little baby who was expected with so much love. It was inevitable to think that if I were her daughter, I would have been loved by my mother, even if she was no longer alive, she would have loved me while carrying me. But reality was different and it was hard to face.
"I did not sleep well either," Cam kissed my forehead and stepped back. "But I am hungry as a lion and there's a breakfast table over there that reminded me of grandma's house. You made the carrot cake with chocolate that she taught you."
"Grandma taught me so many things, it's a shame she left us so early," I lamented.
"And she's watching over us now, just like my mother," Cam smiled. "Let's have breakfast." He left the kitchen heading to the dining table.
"Let's wait for the others," I said. I liked everyone eating together, just like at grandma's house, but Cam was always hungry, I didn't know how he never gained weight.
"They're already here," he shouted from the other room.
After breakfast, we sat in the living room again and they continued telling me everything they had discovered, but there was still something they needed to tell me.
"My God, this Rose woman embezzled quite a bit of money from the company." I commented while looking at the company documents and bank statements.
"Well, then this belongs to you," Flavian said, pointing to the box.
"Would you mind if I excuse myself for a moment? I need some time," my father was very shaken by all of this.
"Oh, Dad!" I rubbed his arm, wishing I could take away all the pain he was feeling right now.
"You're in your own house, Orlando." Flavian replied with a smile.
My father left the room, and I couldn't hold back anymore. I had slept with this doubt and kept it until now only out of respect for my father, but now they had to tell me.
"So who is Julian's father after all?" I looked at Cam, who scratched his head and looked at Flavian. "Why won't you tell me?"
"It's not that we don't want to tell you..." Cam began, but he seemed to be beating around the bush.
"Little one, this is going to drive you crazy with anger, I'm sure of it." Flavian looked from me to my brother.
"Manu, it makes so much sense now that I keep wondering how we didn't notice it before," my brother confessed. "Julian is his father in every tiny detail."
"But won't Dad do a DNA test? What if everything written in this diary is all lies?" I asked, still doubtful. I certainly wanted it to be lies, not because of Rita, but because of my father.
"Of course he'll take the test, but I don't think it's lies, and you'll understand when you know. But maybe it's better if you read this diary yourself." I really wanted to read this diary, to see everything they had found with my own eyes.
