Flavian’s POV
I looked at the woman lying beside me, sleeping so peacefully. Manu was lying on her stomach, hands tucked under the pillow, with the thin sheet covering only from her waist down, leaving her bare back exposed. Her hair spread out like rays of sunshine. It was impossible to resist the urge to touch her. I ran my finger along the length of her spine and planted several kisses on her back until she woke up, her sleepy eyes glancing at me sideways with a lazy smile unfurling on her lips.
"Are you awake?" I teased.
"No, I am dreaming," she smiled.
"Dreaming about what?" I continued running my nose lightly over her skin, leaving kisses here and there.
"It is not about what, but who," she corrected me with a mischievous look.
"And who is this beautiful lady dreaming about?"
"About a hot Greek god." I smiled at the way she talked about me.
"And what is he doing in your dream?"
"He is tempting me, kissing my body. I am seriously thinking about going to bed with him."
"Look who is being naughty!" She laughed, and the sound of her little laugh was delightful to hear. I kissed her mouth and she turned underneath me, pulling me to her with those greedy little hands.
But our morning was interrupted by the intercom ringing insistently, and I wanted to murder the idiot who was ruining my Saturday morning.
"Big guy, one of us has to answer the intercom," Manu laughed while I kissed her neck.
"If we let it ring, they will give up," I said and continued what I was doing.
"Big guy, it could be Lexie, maybe she forgot her key, or the building could be on fire."
"Little one, I am on fire. If it is Lexie, she can wait." Manu laughed, but the intercom would not stop ringing.
"Better go, big guy," Manu warned me, and I got off her very reluctantly to answer the intercom.
It couldn't have been worse - my father was there for a visit, way too early, which I wasn't happy about. I told the doorman he could come up in five minutes and went back to the bedroom, already thinking about how to handle this.
"Little one, my father is coming up," I said, and Manu's eyes widened. "I need to let Lexie know he's here."
"Go answer the door. I'll tell Lexie and make some coffee," Manu decided and got up.
In record time, I did my morning routine and went to answer the door. Manu was already in the kitchen preparing coffee. My father looked at me and, curiously, seemed to be in a good mood.
"Son, good morning! It's great that you're off today," my father opened his arms for a hug, which was rare.
"Are you okay?" It was so strange that he was there and in a good mood.
"Yes, I'm doing great. And where are the ladies?" I knew he was referring to Manu and Lexie.
"Good morning, Mr. Moreno," Manu appeared in the living room with the same professional smile she used with clients. "Lexie is coming, and I'm already preparing coffee. Please, make yourself comfortable."
"Ah, dear, always so thoughtful. Thank you very much." My father greeted Manu with a handshake and sat down.
"Ah, may I answer that?" Rick asked, and my father looked at him mechanically. "Lexie is doing exceptionally well. She's talented and very intelligent, has a natural gift for business, but of course, I imagine she inherited that from you. I'm surprised you didn't place her in your company. She's an invaluable asset to any corporation." Rick knew very well why my father had never given Lexie a position, but he was having fun at Cesar Moreno's expense, something rarely anyone managed to do.
"Well, I'm surprised. I assume you really don't want to go back home, do you, my daughter?" My father was giving up. He would never succeed in getting Alexander or Patrick to fire my sister.
"Definitely not, Dad!" Lexie smiled.
"Your mother will be furious." He shook his head. "But what about your wife, Rick? I know you're married, why isn't she here with you?"
"Because I'm getting divorced." Rick's smile faded from his face.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry." It was not my father's day. I was hiding my smile behind my coffee cup. "And you two were together because..." My father finally asked what had been bothering him.
"Oh, because I slept with him." Lexie answered naturally and drew all eyes around the table to her. She looked at us and shrugged. "What?"
"Rick, can you explain this?" It was my turn to put Rick on the spot. He looked at Lexie, who was laughing.
"Nothing to explain, she just slept at my house, in the guest room, alone, because we were at an event until very late last night." Rick said, looking directly at me.
"You two are ridiculous!" Lexie pointed at my father and me. "I'm an adult and I make my own decisions. Dad, I'm not going back home, as you can see I'm doing just fine. Even though you canceled all my cards, blocked my joint accounts with you, cut off my allowance, and took away my car. I left home with only the clothes I could fit in three suitcases. But I survived and I'm not going back." My father just sighed.
"I guess there's nothing else I can do." My father wouldn't drag Lexie back by her hair, I was sure of that. "But call your mother and let her vent her anger."
"I can do that, but not today." Lexie said and considered the matter closed.
"Children, always a challenge. And you, Manu, did you also leave home like this, defying your parents?" There it was, it had taken him long enough to turn to Manu. And my Saturday morning had started so well...
