Flavian’s POV
My sister called to tell me she would be working as Patrick's assistant. I thought that was great since I knew Patrick would be kind to her. She also said she would take Manu to college since she was at the office. The two of them were getting along really well, which made me happy. After all, Lexie needed a friend, and so did Manu, especially now that things in the group were different.
Catherine was busy with her five children running around everywhere, and Sam was occupied with the baby. Tess had left, and Virginia never had time, so the girls were hardly meeting anymore. Only Melissa would regularly stop by the apartment to see Manu, but she was on vacation traveling with Fred.
During this time, Rick had grown quite close to Manu. He had been missing his wife, who had left a long time ago, but nobody knew what their situation was, though I suspected Manu did.
The ringing phone pulled me from my thoughts about the group. It was Cam, Manu's brother. He was supposed to let me know when he got the sample for the DNA test.
"Hey, Cam."
"Hi, Flavian, how are things?"
"Very well. Actually, I should have called you, but so much has been happening that I forgot." I remembered I hadn't told him about Calvin's visit.
"What is it, any problems?" He worried immediately.
"I'm not sure. This Calvin guy showed up at Manu's college. She didn't quite understand what he wanted, but she was worried. He assured her that her mother would take her back." I explained, as I didn't understand what that man wanted either.
"But what was this man doing looking for Manu?"
"No idea. He said something to Manu about 'seeing if the agreement was worth the headache' and also about changing the terms of this agreement with Rita." I explained.
"But what does that mean?" Cam thought for a moment before speaking again. "I don't like this at all. Anyway, Flavian, keep that man away from Manu, he's dangerous."
"Don't worry, I'm keeping an eye out. At college, Manu has a friend watching over her too, and my sister came to live here in the city and is staying with us for now. She and Manu are getting along great and will work together, so I have eyes on the little one from all sides." I tried to reassure him.
"That's good!" He sighed. "But I called to tell you I got the sample. It's already been sent to the lab, and the results will be ready in fifteen days."
"You were quick! Very good."
"Yes, I'm anxious! I'll come there to get the results."
"Ah, that's great, I want to accompany you in this."
"I have no interest in becoming your father's partner. What I really want is to forget you all exist. And I don't need your help. I'm sure your father will find a way out of his problems." That was my final word.
"Flavian, please, everyone is turning their backs on us." Sabrina was genuinely worried about her father's situation.
"Sabrina, I cannot and will not help you. When we were married, I would have done anything for you, but you were the one who wanted the divorce. Remember that? You left with half of everything I had, and it was not a small amount. You've lived the last seven years certainly without worrying about money, and you could have lived your entire life comfortably if you had invested, saved, worked. But you only spent because that's all you know how to do. Now, Sabrina, I can't even say I'm sorry, because I'm not, and I won't do anything else for you. That being said, please leave and don't contact me again."
"Flavian, do you have the courage to do this to me?"
"I do. Besides, Sabrina, your father might go bankrupt and you might lose your comfortable life, but you won't end up in complete misery. Moreover, you can work like everyone else. Now go, before I call a police officer to remove you from here."
"Flavian, don't turn your back on me, I can become your worst nightmare!" There it was, when she didn't get what she wanted, she would threaten.
"You can't do anything against me. Now get out of my sight!" She didn't move, so I got up and went to the door. "Renata! Please." I called the police officer who worked with me, and she came to my office. "Please escort this woman out of the police station, and if she causes any trouble, put her in a cell."
"No need! I'll leave on my own." Sabrina stood up, her face red with anger. When she reached the door, she turned to me and stared. "You'll regret this, Flavian, I'll hit where it hurts you the most."
"Try it, and I'll finish sinking your father, and you'll be in misery visiting him in jail."
