The Dragon Club was really busy at this time, brilliant with electric lights. And outside the club stood a row of luxury cars.
“Look at those cars, Mr. Owen. Most of their owners are from outside of Cona, including the two guys we just met. One is from the Wilson family; the other is from the McGill family. So, I was thinking there must be a party going on here tonight.”
Baron nodded but did not speak. Because it had nothing to do with what he was going to do next.
They walked straight to the gate, but suddenly they were blocked by two security guards. “Please show me your invitation, sir.”
Just then, there was several voices behind them.
“Oh! Look! That is the son-in-law of the Perry family!”
“The Perry family? Which Perry family? I’ve never heard that before!”
“Of course, you haven’t. It’s just a small family! It’s... Sort of broke.”
“No wonder I haven’t heard of it!”
On hearing these words, Baron turned back and gave a little frowning glance at them. The three young men were still talking to each other.
Baron recognized one of them at once. He was Paris, from the Maguire family, one of the top two families in Kato.
The first time Baron saw him was in the McGill Restaurant and Baron remembered him well. Paris called himself Susan’s fiancé, but Susan made a firm denial of it, for their engagement was agreed by Susan’s father.
Two young men stood beside Paris and their eyes fixed dead at Baron arrogantly. It was obvious that they were twins because they looked exactly like each other.
Baron stared back and felt a ripple of anger. “You seem to be bouncing back just fine, Paris! I guess you completely forgot about your knees,” he sneered.
The words brought Paris back to the painful memories. Last time he was forced by Baron to hit the ground on his knees heavily. At this thought a cold fear swept him.
One of the twins sensed Paris being a little scared. “Do you need any help, Paris?” he asked. He looked very strong, with powerful muscles.
“Yeah, don’t worry, Paris. We are here for you,” said the other twin.
Paris seemed to have self-knowledge. He didn’t want to turn this peaceful situation into something dangerously chaotic. His friends were strong, but they were not Baron’s match at all. “No, no. Let’s go,” he said.
“Okay! He is so lucky!” one of the twins said.
Paris nodded, then squinted at Baron and walked into the Dragon Club.
One of the twins handed an invitation to the security guard. After reviewing it, the guard gave it back and said, “Welcome! Kenny Woods! Come in!”
Kenny took one step forward, but then he turned around. He looked Baron up and down and said to the guard, “Keep your eyes open, buddy. The auction is starting soon. It’s very important. You need to make sure that no one can find a chance to sneak in.”
The two guards looked at each other and nodded. “Thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Woods! But don’t worry. We will check invitations carefully. That’s our responsibility,” one of the guards said.
The guards shook their heads quickly, and said in a trembling voice, “I’m terribly sorry about that. Please come in.”
Without even looking at them, Baron walked into the Dragon Club, and together they went into a hall.
“I’ve heard there will be an auction here tonight,” Baron asked.
Kris nodded. He looked around and leaned close to Baron and whispered in his ear, “Tonight’s auction is really special, Mr. Owen! There is only one item on sale, a beauty woman! It’s totally unheard of.”
Baron listened carefully and an awful flicker of anger appeared in his eyes. Sarah was probably the auction item.
“Who started this? The Davis Family?” Baron asked coldly.
But Kirs shook his head and said in a small voice, “As far as I know, the auction is held by the McGill family.”
“The McGill family!” said Baron through clenched teeth. “The McGills do like to provoke me! They are so dead.”
It was the McGill family who sent someone to take intimate photos of Baron and Yuri!
It was the McGill family who caused trouble in the Brone Group!
It was also the McGill family who spread the news that Baron had been ousted from the Owen family!
