Chapter 421 A Moment of Pleasure
Finished
Between Ellis and Easton, things were fine when it was just the two of them. But if there was a third person around, they needed to keep their distance.
At the moment, she didn’t want to keep anything in check–Maya walking away was the best move.
Maya caught her best friend’s hint and left the living room right away.
In an instant. it was just her and Easton left. Ellis, defeated by her ex–husband’s shameless persistence, said helplessly. “If you’ve got something to say, say it now.”
Whether she listened or not was her own business
Ellis suddenly changed her mind. Easton didn’t think she was going to take in anything he said.
He suddenly felt that whatever explanation he gave probably wouldn’t do any good
His credibility in her eyes was probably below zero.
In other words, no matter how well he phrased things, she wouldn’t believe him.
“Forget it. You should rest,”
Easton stepped around the girl in front of him and walked out.
Ellis turned her head, watching his back. “Unbelievable”
She was seriously fed up! He comes all this way, and I even give him a chance to speak. Now he wants to pull the whole “we’ll talk another day” routine!
But if her ex–husband wanted to leave, she didn’t bother to stop him.
Back in her room, Ellis went through her usual bedtime routine.
Lying in bed, trying to ease into sleep, she vaguely heard a muffled “What the hell?”
What is Maya doing?
Curious, Ellis messaged her on WhatsApp. “What’s wrong?”
Maybe Maya wasn’t checking her phone. Ten minutes passed, and still no reply.
Since she wasn’t sleepy yet anyway, Ellis got out of bed to go find her.
With permission, she opened Maya’s bedroom door.
There, Maya sat on the floor, looking deeply troubled.
Ellis thought for a moment. “Something wrong at work again?”
Maya shook her head. “No.”
“Then why the scream?”
“That was a cry of despair.”
Ellis walked over and looked down at Maya, who still hadn’t gotten off the floor. “What are you holding?”
“A pregnancy test kit.” Maya looked like a balloon that had totally deflated, her face full of hopelessness.
Chapter 421 A Moment of Pleasure
thecked her period–tracking app, she realized she was several days late. She panicked and quickly dered a prepuncy test
kit online
When she took it, the result gave her a huge scare
Ellis took the test kit and picked up the instruction leaflet nearby she died the instructions carefully then examined the result closely.
Two red lines mean pregnant.
The test Maya used had one clear red line, and another that was faint, almost inviable
Ellas had never been pregnant, but she understood the basics of how it worked.
Uncertain about the second line, she suggested. “Maybe you should go to the hospital and have a proper check?“.
“Can they even check for pregnancy this late at night?” Maya had never been to a hospital in the middle of the night. She really wanted to go, but worried it’d be a waste of time, and she hesitated.
“How about tomorrow
Yeah, tomorrow”
“Are you going alone? Not calling Cameron? Since Ellis lived with Maya, she knew who Maya had been with. There was no one else the father could be besides Cameron. “He’s the father. He has to take responsibility”
“I don’t want him to Maya lowered her head in frustration. “If Td known this would happen, I wouldn’t have groen into a moment of pleasure
Ellis had been about to point out that sex without proper protection carried a high risk of pregnancy–and that even with precautions, the risk wasn’t entirely eliminated.
But then she thought. What’s the point of saying that now? What’s done is done,
So instead, she comforted Maya “Stay calm. There aren’t two clear lines yet. Maybe the doctor will confirm tomorrow that it’s just a false alarmn
Maya pointed at the faint second line. Im scared it’s going to show up more clearly later”
“It hasn’t yet! Don’t freak yourself out!” Ellis tossed the test kit into the trash, Sleep
But Maya couldn’t sleep. She turned and buried her face into a giant stuffed teddy bear.
She and Cameron weren’t even in a real relationship. If she were pregnant, the future would have become a blur of unknowns, each possibility heavier than the last. The uncertainty weighed on her, the decision looming like a storm she wasn’t ready to face
Noticing Maya’s distress, Ellis hesitated briefly before saying. I’ll check which hospitals offer pregnancy tests at night. If I find one, well go
“No, tomorrow’s a workday. You need to be at work.”
“I can take a few hours off. It’s not a big deal.”
After a quick search, Ellis found a private hospital and took Maya for a check–up.
Blood tests were the most accurate and capable of detecting pregnancy even in its earliest stages. Ellis knew that from experience, so she recommended Maya go with that option.
